How to Downgrade Risk of Rain 2 Client to Version 1.2.4.1

Risk of Rain 2's dedicated server support is no longer maintained by the developers. As of May 26, 2022, the latest supported server version is 1.2.4.1. This means you and your friends will need to downgrade your game client to this version in order to join your dedicated server.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the entire process so you can connect and play with ease.

#Step 1: Download the Version Selector Tool

To install an older build of the game, you’ll need to use a custom tool:

1. Download the Risk of Rain 2 Version Selector tool:
   https://github.com/risk-of-thunder/RoR2VersionSelector/releases/download/nightly/binary.zip

2. Extract the contents of the ZIP file.

3. Run the RoR2VersionSelector.exe file.

#Step 2: Select Version 1.2.4.1

1. From the version list, select:
   V_2022_09_29_Patch_1_2_4_1

2. Enter your Steam username, then click Download.

3. When prompted, enter your Steam password to proceed.

#Step 3: Apply the Downgrade to Steam

1. Once downloaded, click Copy Downloaded Version to Steam Install.

2. Select the newly downloaded version from the list and click OK.

3. Wait a few moments for the process to complete.

#Step 4: Launch the Downgraded Game

After the downgrade is complete, launching Risk of Rain 2 from Steam will now run version 1.2.4.1 — the same version used by your server.
