Where to Find Enshrouded Gold Spots (Gold Ore & Coins)
The best Enshrouded gold spots are in Veilwater Basin. For Gold Ore, dive into the water around the Veilwater Basin Spire and mine the deposits with the Mining Sieve, which you earn from Oswald Anders' A Tool for Underwater Mining quest. For Gold Coins, raid the flooded Drak'Dal Temple during the Carpenter's Finding Gold Coins quest, or dig up loose coins around the basin before you take it on.
#Best Enshrouded Gold Spots and Locations
Looking to stock up on gold in Enshrouded? You're in luck! The Wake of the Water update added Gold Ore, Gold Coins and a pile of new recipes that use them. There's one catch: you'll need to get your feet wet to reach the best spots.
Most of the gold worth chasing sits in Veilwater Basin, the water biome wedged between the Blackmire and the Albaneve Summits. You need Flame Level 8 to enter, and the enemies there are built for players around level 35 to 45.
Here's where to start looking:
| Resource | Best Location | What You Need |
|---|---|---|
| Gold Ore | Underwater around Veilwater Basin Spire | Mining Sieve |
| Gold Coins | Veilwater Basin | Access to the region; Carpenter's quest helps |
| Gold Bars | Crafted at the Blast Furnace | Gold Ore and Coal |
| Gold Chests | Various locations across Embervale | Exploration and access to chests |
Gold Ore and Gold Coins are separate resources, and no recipe turns one into the other. Keep that in mind before you plan a farming trip. This guide is current for Update 8 (Forging the Path). #Where to Find Gold Ore in Enshrouded
If you want an Enshrouded Gold Ore location you can return to on every farming run, start in the water around the Veilwater Basin Spire. Copper, Tin and Iron mostly come from deposits on land. Gold Ore mostly sits on the lakebed.
#Veilwater Basin Spire
The Spire doubles as a fast travel point, and the water around it holds several glowing gold nodes close together. You can clear a few in one dive and climb out before your air runs low.
- Travel to Veilwater Basin Spire. Unlock the fast travel point if you haven't already.
- Head into the surrounding water. Pick a spot where you can climb out easily.
- Equip your Mining Sieve and dive. Look for the golden glow on the lakebed.
- Mine each deposit. Work through the nodes nearest the shore first.
- Surface regularly. Your oxygen is limited, so don't get greedy!
#Dragon Dream Lake and Lake Heartblood
Two more spots deserve a place on your route. Drak enemies on the island with the dragon corpse in Dragon Dream Lake can drop Gold Ore. The northeast side of Lake Heartblood has Gold Ore deposits both underwater and on land.
#Enemy Drops and Loot
You can also pick up Gold Ore while you explore:
- Drak enemies: Warriors, Skirmishers, Priests and Chieftains all have Gold Ore in their loot pools.
- Hydrak'Dal: This boss guards the Hydrak'Dal Temple, northwest of Lake Heartblood. You need its head to strengthen your Flame to Level 9, so you'll be fighting it anyway.
- Breakable objects and containers: Smash and loot as you go.
Mining still wins when you want gold in bulk. Treat drops as a bonus.
#How to Mine Gold Ore in Enshrouded
Your regular pickaxe won't touch underwater deposits, so you need to unlock a special tool before your gold hunt starts.
#Step 1: Complete A Tool for Underwater Mining
Oswald Anders, the Blacksmith, gives you A Tool for Underwater Mining. He sends you to Orville, an old gold-shipping town that the Drak'Dal have overrun. Search the town for clues, then swim out to the shipwrecks across the bay. You'll find the Mining Sieve inside one of the wrecks.
#Step 2: Equip the Mining Sieve
The Mining Sieve works as your pickaxe underwater. Keep it on your hotbar whenever you explore Veilwater Basin, because every submerged deposit needs it.
#Step 3: Dive and Find the Deposits
Head back to Veilwater Basin Spire and scan the lakebed for the golden glow. The nodes stand out against the dark rock once you know what you're looking for.
#Step 4: Manage Your Oxygen
A juicy Gold Ore deposit can distract you long enough to drown, so keep these in mind:
- Watch your oxygen meter and surface before it empties.
- Stay close to somewhere you can breathe.
- Grab Algae while you're down there.
- You can't attack underwater. If something hostile comes after you, swim away or climb out to fight.
- Swimfins, the Diving Helmet and a Diver's Endurance Flask make long dives much easier.
#Step 5: Repeat Your Route
Once you've cleared the nodes, head home and store your haul. Gold Ore deposits regenerate over time, so a loop around the Spire saves you from wandering the whole biome every trip.
#Where to Find Gold Coins in Enshrouded
Gold Coins are a terrain material, which means you dig them out of coin piles with your pickaxe, the same way you'd dig up dirt or stone. You'll spot loose piles around Veilwater Basin, and you can collect them before the Carpenter ever mentions coins. The biggest stash sits inside the flooded Drak'Dal Temple.
#Finding Gold Coins Quest Walkthrough
The Carpenter gives you Finding Gold Coins once you reach Veilwater Basin. Pack food and anything that extends your air, because the quest ends in a long underwater puzzle.
-
Head to the Drak'Dal Temple. Swim down the submerged staircase and find the gap in the west wall.
-
Find the three buttons. Glowing signs mark the puzzle, and each button sits at the end of its own side tunnel. Press one, swim back to the main chamber for air, then go after the next.
-
Enter the treasure room. The gate below the signs opens once all three buttons are down. Swim through and climb up.
-
Mine the coins. Use your pickaxe on the huge pile of Gold Coins. A chest in the room holds the Drak Temple Roof Block, and opening it completes the quest.
-
Find the exit. The door stays locked until you shoot a hidden button above the room.
You'll earn 150 XP from the quest on top of every coin you dig up.
#Are Gold Coins and Gold Ore the Same Thing?
Nope! The names overlap, but the resources don't:
- Gold Ore: Mined underwater with the Mining Sieve and smelted into Gold Bars.
- Gold Coins: Dug from coin piles with a pickaxe and used directly in recipes.
- Gold Bars: Smelted from Gold Ore and Coal at the Blast Furnace.
- Gold Dust: Made by grinding Gold Bars at the Mill.
Gold Chests are different again. They're loot containers spread across Embervale, and Wake of the Water made them much better: silver and gold chests now have higher odds of epic and legendary weapons, plus one extra item. The trade-off is that an opened chest stays empty for a set amount of in-game time, so the old log-out-and-reload farm no longer works.
#What Is Gold Used for in Enshrouded?
So you've built up a decent stash. Here's where it goes.
#Strengthen Your Flame to Level 9
Spend your first Gold Ore here. Flame Level 9 costs 60 Gold Ore, along with Aquamarine, Pearl, Passionflower, Green Vitriol Dust, Sparks and the Hydrak'Dal's head. In return, you get 13 minutes in the Shroud and bigger attribute bonuses. Hold onto your ore until the Flame upgrade is done.
#Craft Gold Bars and Gold Dust
The Blast Furnace turns 20 Gold Ore and 40 Coal into 20 Gold Bars. You'll use those bars for:
- Castle Benches, Castle Thrones and Castle Wall Shelves
- Drak Temple decorations, including totems and vases
- Enormous Magic Chests
- The Diving Helmet
- Gilded tools, such as the Gilded Pickaxe and Gilded Axe, plus spells like Eternal Fireball II and Eternal Lightning Channel
Grind Gold Bars at the Mill to make Gold Dust, which goes into the Excellent Fishing Rod and the Lucky Fishing Rod.
#What Are Gold Coins Used For?
Gold Coins show up in 17 recipes, most of them at the Fisher. You'll need coins for fishing bait, the Excellent and Lucky Fishing Rods, Swimfins and the Diving Helmet, which takes 10 Gold Coins plus 2 Gold Bars. You'll also spend coins at the Coffee Brewery on Black Coffee, Lattes and Sweet Mocha.
The Diving Helmet is worth the investment. Keen Games gave it a built-in light in the first patch after Wake of the Water, so you can explore the darker underwater ruins without guessing where you're going.
Gold Coins and Gold Ore aren't interchangeable, so check the recipe before you dive. The last thing you want is to spend ages mining underwater, only to discover that your recipe needs coins.
#Best Tips for Farming Enshrouded Gold Faster
Once you've found your favourite gold spots, a few habits will cut your farming time.
#Build a Repeatable Route
Start at Veilwater Basin Spire, work through the nearby deposits, and add Lake Heartblood if you want more. Head home when your bags fill up, then run the same loop once the nodes regenerate.
#Bring the Right Equipment
Before you leave your base, pack:
- Your Mining Sieve and a pickaxe for coin piles
- Swimfins, a Diving Helmet or Diver's Endurance Flasks
- Suitable armor and weapons for land fights
- Food, healing supplies and spare inventory space
Don't underestimate the Drak'Dal. Getting knocked out halfway through a gold run isn't exactly ideal.
#Farm Gold with Friends
Gold farming is more fun with company. One player can dive for ore while another clears Draks on the shore, and you'll hit the 60 Gold Ore for Flame Level 9 much faster.
If you're planning to explore Veilwater Basin as a group, affordable Enshrouded server hosting from Shockbyte keeps your shared world online between sessions. Whether you're stocking up on gold, building an enormous castle or prepping for 1.0, a dedicated server makes organising your multiplayer sessions much easier.
