Hytale Chapter 1 is scheduled to launch on October 12, 2026, for PC. Hypixel Studios confirmed the date on September 24 with a short teaser trailer. Chapter 1 is a major content update for the existing Early Access game, not its original launch, and an exact release time hasn't been announced yet.

#Hytale Chapter 1 Release Date: What's Been Announced?

October 12, 2026, is the date to put in your calendar. The official Hytale account announced it on X on September 24, with a post reading "Hytale Chapter I Releases OCTOBER 12TH, 2026" over a teaser showing the new dungeon and its boss. You'll see it written as both Chapter I and Chapter 1. They're the same update.

That's a big step up from the July preview. Hypixel's July 16 developer post estimated Chapter 1 would arrive within two to three months. October 12 lands comfortably inside that window, which is a welcome change for a game with Hytale's history of delays.

#What Time Does Hytale Chapter 1 Release?

Hypixel hasn't announced an exact release time or a regional rollout schedule yet.

Don't assume the update unlocks at midnight in your time zone. A release date alone doesn't tell you whether everyone gets access at once or whether maintenance comes first. Watch the official Hytale X account and news page in the days before launch, rather than organising a late-night session around an unconfirmed countdown.

#Can You Play Hytale Chapter 1 Early?

Partly, if you don't mind rough edges. Chapter 1 content has been rolling into the Update 7 pre-release since September 3. To opt in, open the Hytale launcher, go to Settings and switch on Pre-Release.

There are catches. In the first wave, most of the new content was only reachable through Creative Mode, and Hypixel has warned that the rune system in particular will change a lot before launch. The pre-release notes are updated weekly, so treat what you play now as a snapshot. It's also worth testing on a copy of your world rather than the one you care about.

#What Is Hytale Chapter 1?

Hytale Chapter 1 is a major content update built around goblins, a handcrafted dungeon, new combat abilities and repeatable exploration. It isn't the game's initial release: Hytale entered Early Access on January 13, 2026, and runs through Hypixel's own launcher on Windows, macOS (Apple Silicon) and Linux. It isn't on Steam or consoles.

Hypixel hasn't announced a separate price for Chapter 1. It arrives as an Early Access update, and previous updates have been free for existing owners.

The July preview describes Chapter 1 as the point where the team starts delivering more new content after months spent on the game's foundations. That doesn't mean the roadmap is finished. Shortly after the date went out, game director Simon reminded fans on X that there are still around five more chapters to go, plus new world generation and crafting.

#A Handcrafted Dungeon and the Gobliterator

The dungeon is one of Chapter 1's biggest draws. It's Hytale's first handcrafted dungeon (earlier ones were procedurally generated) and features the game's first multi-phase boss fight. The teaser shows a subterranean goblin cavern that ends in a showdown with a towering goblin mech called the Gobliterator.

Apparently, regular goblins weren't causing enough trouble.

#Why the Encounter Manager Matters

Behind the boss fight is a system called the Encounter Manager, which coordinates boss phases, enemy waves and arena changes. Encounters are authored as content rather than new engine code, so both Hypixel and community creators can build them. Modders can already experiment with it in pre-release.

The same toolbox can power other encounters, so this boss shouldn't end up as a one-off showcase, although Hypixel hasn't said how many more dungeons are planned, or when.

#Not Every Goblin Is an Enemy

The faction update goes beyond adding more targets. Goblins now come in different shapes, roles and personalities. The combat roster includes swarming Scrappers, leaping Miners, shielded Guardians, bomb-throwing Lobbers and flamethrower-wielding Burners.

Then there's the Feastmaster, a huge elite that charges players, summons reinforcements and damages its surroundings. Other goblins are friendly, including one who runs a shop.

So while charging in with a weapon might solve some encounters, it probably shouldn't be your introduction to every goblin you meet.

#The $15,000 Gobliterator Challenge

On the same day the date was announced, Simon offered to donate $15,000 to the first streamer who beats the Gobliterator under some fairly brutal conditions:

  • Solo, on hard mode, in a hardcore world.
  • No armour, no potions and no glitches.
  • Only iron weapons available in Exploration Mode.
  • A full legitimate run, with no Creative Mode shortcut into the dungeon.
  • Streamed, with a VOD available to check.

He's promised a full rundown of the rules before launch, so check the final wording before planning an attempt.

#How Do Goblin Breaches Work?

Goblin Breaches are temporary portals into an unstable, goblin-occupied fragment of Orbis. They're expeditions you choose to take, not goblin waves attacking your base.

You first answer the chapter's opening call at the Forgotten Temple. Once you've set things in motion, a Breach can appear periodically in your world. You can stumble across it while exploring or find it on the world map.

Step through and you land in goblin-held biomes that regenerate between visits, sometimes with content you haven't seen before. While you explore, the Void closes in and eventually forces you back out. The objective is to find worthwhile loot and resist that pressure long enough to make the trip count.

Activities include predators you can track and trap, treasure chests that trigger enemy waves, Void assassins that hunt you down and puzzles guarding places you can't simply dig into. Recent pre-release builds also made Void creatures hostile to goblins, and most goblins now flee from them unless they have backup, so don't be surprised if a fight turns three-way.

The Forgotten Temple is also intended to become a progression hub that evolves across future Early Access chapters.

That gives Breaches a different rhythm from an ordinary resource run: explore, take a few risks and see what you can bring home before your visit ends.

#Rune Abilities Add More Ways to Fight

The new rune system is designed to add active combat abilities without locking everyone into a rigid class.

An ability rune determines the skill you receive, and modifier runes change its effects or behaviour. Both slot into a Runebinder's Effigy. In July, Hypixel targeted roughly six ability runes and a similar number of modifiers for Chapter 1.

The Update 7 pre-release started with five: Enrage, Fireball, Imbue Poison, Ground Slam and Wind Strike. Later builds have added and adjusted runes, so treat any current list as a work in progress.

#How Do Ability Runes and Modifier Runes Work Together?

Hypixel's example uses Fireball. The ability rune grants the attack, while modifiers might split it into multiple projectiles or make it apply a shock effect.

The July post also described elements reacting with each other, such as soaking a target with water before shocking it, or throwing a fireball into a friend's tornado to set it alight. Treat those as the direction the system is heading, not a guaranteed list of launch combinations. Hypixel has been clear that runes will start simple and develop over time.

For players who enjoy testing builds, that still raises an interesting question: which combinations suit the way you actually play, rather than the way a predefined class expects you to?

#Goblin Gadgets and Other Chapter 1 Additions

The goblins are bringing equipment as well as enemies. Their inventions have a deliberately scrappy look, and they double as the chapter's traversal kit:

  • Rocket Boots that add a double jump.
  • A Scrap Glider you steer by pressing and releasing sprint to dive and climb.
  • A Hookshot that pulls you across the world using Hook Anchors.
  • A Scrap Drill that breaks several blocks at once.
  • A Spyglass for scouting distant areas.

The chapter also brings basic boats, carryable objects such as chests and explosive barrels (which you can throw at enemies), goblin cosmetics for completing the chapter, a chapter screen that tracks your progress, clearer item tooltips and transparency support for stained glass and windows.

They're less headline-grabbing than a giant goblin mech, but combat is only one part of a sandbox game. Travelling, building and moving things around need interesting tools too.

#What Isn't Necessarily Coming With Chapter 1?

One easy mistake is treating everything in July's huge developer preview as an October 12 feature. That post covered Chapter 1 and plenty of work planned around or beyond it. The main things to keep separate are:

  • Minigames have their own schedule. Hypixel showed 14 short party minigames alongside Chapter 1, but said they follow a separate timeline.
  • Runeforging comes later. Chapter 1 introduces rune abilities; the broader Runeforging system is a future addition.
  • The crafting rework and companions are targeting Chapter 2. The rework swaps some crafting benches for in-world activities like wood chopping, while companions are NPCs you can invite to help around your homestead.
  • WorldGen V2 is its own project. Hypixel is redesigning the world from scratch and has described it as much bigger than the goblin chapter.
  • Carrying downed teammates is a later extension of the carrying mechanic, not a Chapter 1 feature.

The preview also placed some interface work, including the new Memories UI and player profile cards, further out than Chapter 1.

None of that takes away from the update. It just helps you plan around what's actually arriving on day one.

#Your Hytale Chapter 1 Launch Checklist

There's no need to turn launch prep into homework. A few sensible checks should mean your first session is spent exploring rather than troubleshooting.

  1. Back up your existing world. Keep a separate copy before installing a major update, especially if you have builds you'd rather not risk.

  2. Check your mods. Look for compatibility notes from their creators rather than assuming every mod will work unchanged. Update 6's in-game Mod Browser makes updating them easier once new versions land.

  3. Get your server ready. Plan to update it as soon as the new build is available so everyone's on the same version. For a long-term home for your group's world, reliable Hytale server hosting with Shockbyte is worth considering. Check the plan's backup options, server location and mod support against what your group actually needs.

  4. Read the launch-day patch notes. The preview points players towards the Forgotten Temple, but the final notes should take priority for getting started. Avoid resetting a world just because someone claims it's required. Hypixel hasn't said Chapter 1 needs a fresh start. Earlier updates have sometimes needed newly generated, unexplored areas before new content appeared, though, so you may need to travel somewhere new rather than begin again. The same caution applies to launch times: organise the group, but leave the exact start time flexible until it's been announced.

#Is Hytale Chapter 1 Worth Returning For?

If you've been waiting for a new adventure objective, Chapter 1 has a clear hook: a handcrafted dungeon, a multi-phase boss, repeatable Goblin Breaches and the beginning of a more flexible combat system.

Whether that makes it your next main game will depend on how those systems feel once they're playable. A promising preview isn't the same thing as a hands-on verdict, and Simon admitted in July that there weren't many reasons to come back to Hytale yet. Chapter 1 is Hypixel's attempt to change that.

For now, the answer to "when is Hytale Chapter 1 coming out?" is October 12, 2026, on PC. Back up your world, check your setup and keep an eye out for the exact launch time before making plans around it.
