RuneScape Dragonwilds 1.0 Release Date: When Does It Launch?
RuneScape: Dragonwilds 1.0 releases on September 15, 2026, leaving Early Access after 17 months. The full launch brings the survival RPG to PC and consoles, adds the Scorned Wilderness raid and Runite gear, supports crossplay, and arrives day one on Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Extra, with Jagex promising continued updates after 1.0.
After months of updates, new regions, skill changes, dragons and a frankly unhealthy amount of resource gathering, RuneScape: Dragonwilds is finally ready to hit version 1.0.
Jagex has confirmed that the Runescape Dragonwilds 1.0 release date is September 15, 2026, and this isn't just a version number changing from 0.something to 1.0. The launch brings the game's first raid, the conclusion of Kuldra's Saga, console versions, crossplay and plenty more.
Here's what you need to know before heading back to Ashenfall.
#When Is the RuneScape Dragonwilds 1.0 Release Date?
RuneScape: Dragonwilds 1.0 launches on September 15, 2026.
Jagex confirmed the date on June 5 during the Summer Game Fest Live Showcase, announcing that Dragonwilds would leave Steam Early Access and make the jump to a full release.
The important launch details:
- Release date: September 15, 2026
- PC: Steam, Epic Games Store and the Jagex Launcher
- PlayStation: PlayStation 5, included in PS Plus Extra and Premium from day one
- Xbox: Xbox Series X|S, on Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass from day one
- Nintendo: Nintendo Switch 2, with Nintendo Game Chat support
- Crossplay: Supported across PC and all three consoles
One wrinkle worth knowing about: the Jagex Launcher version is treated as its own PC release. Owning Dragonwilds on Steam doesn't automatically hand you access through the launcher, so buy on the platform you actually intend to play on.
Dragonwilds originally entered Early Access on April 15, 2025. Since then, Jagex has steadily expanded Ashenfall while responding to player feedback, including shipping dedicated server support in March's 0.11 update, earlier than originally planned.
Jagex says the game passed one million Early Access sales, so there should be no shortage of adventurers wandering into 1.0.
#What Time Does RuneScape Dragonwilds 1.0 Release?
This is the one detail worth checking yourself rather than taking as gospel.
Jagex hasn't published a single global unlock time covering every storefront, and the numbers doing the rounds don't agree. Community trackers have been counting down to 4 AM UTC. The PlayStation Store has been listing a 12 PM UTC release. Several guides have gone with 4 PM UTC.
The safe read: September 15 is locked in, the exact minute isn't, and it may well differ by platform.
If the widely quoted 4 PM UTC figure is the one that holds, that works out as:
- 9 AM PDT - September 15
- 12 PM EDT - September 15
- 5 PM BST - September 15
- 6 PM CEST - September 15
- 1 AM JST - September 16
- 2 AM AEST - September 16
Check your platform's store page on the day. For most players, September 15 is the date to circle.
#What's New in RuneScape Dragonwilds 1.0?
Version 1.0 is designed to wrap up the first major chapter of Dragonwilds rather than simply removing the Early Access label.
The headline addition is Scorned Wilderness, which takes players to the conclusion of Kuldra's Saga.
#Scorned Wilderness and the Fight Against Kuldra
Scorned Wilderness is Dragonwilds' first raid, and it pushes players toward a final confrontation with Kuldra, the five-headed Dragon Queen.
Rather than functioning as another sprawling open-world region, it's built around a journey across fractured floating islands torn apart by wild anima and the power of black dragons.
You'll need more than whatever rusty sword has been sitting in a chest beside your crafting bench for three updates.
Players are expected to prepare equipment, potions and supplies while dealing with dangerous enemies on the route toward Kuldra. Expect familiar and new threats including dragons, Zogres, Black Knights, Garou and high-level encounters leading toward the Dragon Queen herself.
The raid also brings the Runite tier, extending melee, ranged and magic gear progression one step further. Additional rewards sit on Kuldra's rare drop table, and Jagex is keeping those under wraps until launch day.
All your existing Early Access content stays put, too. Fellhollow, Dowdun Reach and Umbral Sands are all still there, along with the 13 skills you can grind to level 99 in proper RuneScape tradition.
#Combat Is Getting More Attention Too
The 1.0 launch isn't only adding more things to fight. Combat itself is getting some extra depth.
Jagex has highlighted a dedicated Special Attack resource, new Visceral Attacks following successful parries, Wands for faster and more mobile spellcasting, improved blocking and more generous animation cancelling.
That's a useful change for a game where fighting increasingly nasty monsters becomes a pretty major part of surviving Ashenfall.
Dragonwilds still keeps its survival-crafting DNA, though. You'll be gathering materials, building bases, levelling skills and using magic for everything from combat to making resource collection dramatically less annoying.
#Which Platforms Is RuneScape Dragonwilds 1.0 Coming To?
One of the biggest changes with 1.0 is that Dragonwilds is no longer just a Steam Early Access game.
Xbox is particularly noteworthy. Dragonwilds marks the arrival of a RuneScape game on Xbox after 25 years of the franchise being associated primarily with PC and mobile, and it's launching straight into Game Pass.
PlayStation owners get a similar deal. Dragonwilds joins the PS Plus Extra and Premium catalogue on day one, which means a very large number of people are about to get handed this game without paying for it specifically.
"Trust me, we'll only play for an hour" will, naturally, turn into someone reorganising storage boxes at 3 AM.
#Does RuneScape Dragonwilds 1.0 Have Crossplay?
Yes. RuneScape: Dragonwilds 1.0 supports crossplay between PC and console players.
That might end up being one of the most important changes of the entire launch.
Dragonwilds is playable solo, but a huge part of its appeal comes from exploring, building and taking on monsters with friends. Cross-platform multiplayer means your group no longer needs to be playing on identical hardware just to share the same adventure.
Cross-save is a different question, and Jagex hasn't announced it. Your character progress doesn't follow you between a Steam copy and a PlayStation copy, so pick a platform and stick with it.
#What About Dedicated RuneScape Dragonwilds Servers?
Dedicated servers arrived in March 2026 as part of the 0.11 update, and they do something the standard game can't.
Normal co-op sessions cap at four players. A dedicated server raises that to six, and Jagex has said it wants to push the number higher in future updates. If your group has outgrown four, a server is currently the only way to fit everyone in the same world.
The other benefit is persistence. Nobody wants the group base, crafting stations and half-finished architectural masterpiece to disappear for the night because Steve went offline.
For groups planning to spend serious time in Ashenfall after launch, affordable Runescape Dragonwilds server hosting with Shockbyte gives everyone a consistent place to play, build and progress without arranging sessions around a single host.
As with any major update, existing server owners should make sure worlds are backed up before applying 1.0, and that the server build matches the live game version.
#How Much Will RuneScape Dragonwilds Cost After 1.0?
Good news if you were expecting the classic "Early Access is over, here's the new price" move.
Jagex says the price isn't increasing when Dragonwilds reaches 1.0. The game stays at Β£24.99 in the UK and $29.99 in the US, including Kuldra's Saga and the free updates surrounding it.
Jagex positioned the decision as a thank-you both to Early Access players and to people who intentionally waited for Kuldra's story to be completed before jumping in.
So if you've been waiting for September 15, there's no need to panic-buy the night before.
#Is RuneScape Dragonwilds Finished After Version 1.0?
Definitely not.
Jagex has repeatedly stressed that 1.0 is a milestone, not the end of Dragonwilds development. Executive Producer Mod Dutch put it plainly back in July: the 1.0 release is not the end of Dragonwilds.
The September release concludes Kuldra's Saga, but the wider story of Ashenfall continues, and Jagex has committed to free monthly updates as the game grows.
#The Luminance Update Comes Next
Jagex has announced Luminance, a free update landing in December, and it's bringing the Prayer skill with it.
Beyond that, the studio is holding its Summit at RuneFest on October 3rd, where it plans to share 2027 plans and details of the next saga in Ashenfall's story.
So September 15 isn't a final version. Think of it as the point where the first complete storyline is ready, while Jagex moves into the next phase.
#What Should You Do Before RuneScape Dragonwilds 1.0 Launches?
If you're already playing during Early Access, there are a few sensible things to do before the update lands.
-
Back up your world. Major version updates are exactly when you want a recent save stored somewhere safe.
-
Finish any current preparation. Stocking up on materials, food, potions and equipment gives you more time to focus on the new content after launch.
-
Get your group organised. With crossplay arriving alongside 1.0, September 15 is a great excuse to bring console friends into the fold.
-
Update your dedicated server. Server versions need to match the live game version, so make sure your server is running the correct build before everyone tries to connect.
-
Prepare for Scorned Wilderness. Turning up with proper gear will probably be more productive than attempting to defeat a five-headed Dragon Queen with optimism and a basic weapon.
New players don't need to race toward the newest content. Dragonwilds is built around progression, exploration and levelling your skills, so there's plenty to experience before Kuldra becomes your immediate problem.

#September 15 Is Just the Beginning for Dragonwilds
The Runescape Dragonwilds 1.0 release date is September 15, 2026, and it's the game's biggest milestone since Early Access began.
Players are getting the conclusion to Kuldra's Saga, the Scorned Wilderness raid, Runite gear, console releases, crossplay and day-one availability on both Game Pass and PS Plus, all without a price rise - and none of it is being treated as the finish line.
So whether you've been surviving in Dragonwilds since Early Access or September 15 will be your first trip into Ashenfall, now is a pretty good time to start gathering the crew.
Kuldra probably isn't going to slay herself.
