There may be times when disruptive or unwanted players may join your Left 4 Dead 2 server. It is possible to kick or ban players either through your server's console or by using the in-game admin menu.

Important

You are required to be set as an admin on your L4D2 server to kick/ban players.

#With the In-Game Admin Menu

When connected to your server as an Administrator the in-game menu gives you access to a range of commands to help manage your server.

  1. Open the console by pressing the聽`聽key.

  2. Enter sm_admin. to open the Admin Menu.

  3. Press the 1聽key to open Player Commands.

  4. You can now Kick or Ban players, along with various other options. Just select the option and then the player when prompted.


#With the Shockbyte Console

This method can be used if you wish to kick, ban, or temporarily ban a player when you are not connected to the server.

  1. Access your control panel, and click Console.

  2. In the console you can enter the following commands:

  4. Ban - sm_ban <player username> <duration(set to 9999999 to permanently ban)> [reason].聽

  5. Unban - sm_unban <steamID/IP>
