The difficulty setting in RimWorld Together controls how challenging the game will be for players. This can affect things such as raid strength, events, resource availability, and overall survival difficulty.

On RimWorld Together servers, difficulty is usually managed directly in game by each player rather than enforced by the server.

#Check the server difficulty configuration

If you want to verify how difficulty is configured on your server, you can review the server configuration file.

  1. Access your control panel.

  2. Stop your server before making any changes.

  3. Open the Files tab.

  4. Navigate to the following directory:

/Configs/DifficultyConfig.json

  1. Open the DifficultyConfig.json file to review the current configuration.

By default, RimWorld Together servers do not enforce a single difficulty level, which allows players to manage their own difficulty settings in game.

#Change difficulty in game

Players can adjust their difficulty directly while playing.

  1. Join your RimWorld Together server.

  2. Press ESC to open the menu.

  3. Click Options.

  4. Open the Gameplay tab.

  5. Under Storyteller Settings, click Modify.

  6. Select one of the preset difficulties or create a custom difficulty configuration.

Once confirmed, the new difficulty will apply to your gameplay!
