In RimWorld, the storyteller controls how events unfold in your colony. Different storytellers affect the pacing of raids, disasters, rewards, and other world events. Changing the storyteller lets players adjust the tone of the game to better match their playstyle.

On RimWorld Together servers, storyteller enforcement is usually disabled by default. This allows each player to select their own storyteller in game. If needed, the server configuration can still be reviewed or changed.

#Check the storyteller configuration

You can review or modify the storyteller settings using the server configuration file.

  1. Access your control panel.

  2. Stop your server before making any changes.

  3. Open the Files tab.

  4. Navigate to:

/Configs/StorytellerConfig.json

  1. Open StorytellerConfig.json to review the settings.

EnforceStoryteller
If set to false, players can choose their own storyteller in game.
If set to true, the server will enforce the storyteller defined in the configuration.

After making changes, click Save and start your server again.

#Change the storyteller in game

If storyteller enforcement is disabled, players can choose their storyteller directly in RimWorld.

  1. Join your RimWorld Together server.

  2. Press ESC to open the menu.

  3. Click Options.

  4. Open the Gameplay tab.

  5. Under Storyteller Settings, click Modify.

  6. Select the storyteller you want to use.

The selected storyteller will now control how events occur during your gameplay.
