How to Change your Server Type

Open your server's Control Panel. 2. Stop your server. 3. Click on your current server type to open the "Edit Server" menu. 4. Select your preferred server type and click next. 5. Select your preferred version. 6. (Optional) Select your preferred build. Your server will now change to the selected server type, version, and build. Please allow it a few minutes to update.
How to Manually Backup your Server Files
Backups can be used to recover your server data in the case of any file loss or griefing. This guide explains how to create a backup. --- Creating a Manual Backup via an FTP Client 1. Access your Control Panel and Stop your server. 2. Navigate to the Files tab and select . Access your server FTP using FileZilla or WinSCP. 3. On your computer, create a new folder with any name you'd prefer. For this example, we will call this folder Server Backup. Select all of the server files with Ctrl + A, then drag and drop them into your newly created folder. You have now made a backup of your server to your computer! --- Manually Zipping the Files in the Web FTP You can also zip the files through the built-in FTP to download the whole server as a ZIP file. 1. Access your Control Panel and Stop your server. 2. Navigate to the Files tab and tick the box beside the file(s) and folder(s) that you want to backup. 3. Click and name your Zip file after your world name. If your world name is , the zip file should be named . 4. Click Zip file to zip your server files. 5. Once done, access your server through an FTP client such as FileZilla. You should now see the ZIP file you created. Download this file to keep a local backup of your server. --- Creating a Backup using the Control Panel You can also use the Automatic Backup tool to create a ZIP file of your server. 1. Access your Control Panel and Stop your server. 2. Navigate to the Backups tab on the left-hand side of the panel. 3. Select the Instance dropdown and select your desired world you would like to backup. 4. Set the Name of the backup. Select any further options you would like to have for the backup (i.e., setting up interval backups, scheduling, etc.) 5. Select Create Backup. 6. Troubleshooting: Unable To Connect To FTP
If you are unable to access your server's FTP, this guide will resolve the issue regardless of what's preventing your connection. --- Most Common Causes Using the wrong password. You can follow this guide to reset it. Entering the wrong connection details. The FTP connection details are found on the control panel under Files SFTP Connect. Not accepting the TLS encryption certificate. When logging in, make sure to accept or click OK for the security certificate. Problems with FileZilla. Try an alternate FTP client such as WinSCP or CyberDuck. Firewall/anti-virus block. On the same page, you can simply access the web-based file manager to manage files directly from the control panel. We have a guide for accessing the panel FTP File Access here. --- Troubleshooting: Accessing FTP via FileZilla To connect using FileZilla, you will need to enter the login information found via Files SFTP Connect (the same page as the web-based file manager). The most common reason for being unable to connect is entering the wrong details or using the wrong password. Please note that the FTP Usernames are different for every server - enter them exactly as they appear on the FTP details page. Additionally, make sure there is no space before or after the details you entered. When connecting to the FTP server, make to accept the TLS security certificate. If you are still unable to connect with FileZilla and are sure you're entering the correct details, it can sometimes be caused by an issue with FileZilla or a firewall block on your end. In this case, you can try the following steps: 1. Try a different FTP client instead of FileZilla. For Windows, you can try WinSCP. For Mac, you can try CyberDuck. 2. If you still cannot connect with an alternate FTP client, the issue is most likely caused by your firewall or anti-virus. Temporarily disable both of these and try again. If you are still unable to connect, please provide the full FileZilla FTP log and/or any error messages you see to our support team in a support ticket.
How To Reset Your Shockbyte Server Files
If you want to reset your Shockbyte server back to how it was originally or just kick things off fresh, you can easily wipe all the files. How To Use WinSCP For FTP (File Management)
WinSCP is an FTP client software for Windows PC users that allows you to easily access and manage your server files. This is a recommended alternative to FileZilla which is another FTP client. --- Connecting to your Server Directory via FTP with WinSCP You can connect to your server directory with WinSCP. 1. Download and install the WinSCP Client. 2. On your server control panel, navigate to Files SFTP Connect. 3. Open WinSCP and fill out the details displayed on the SFTP Server Login page of your server control panel into WinSCP as shown below. Your SFTP password is the same as your control panel password. 4. Click Login at the bottom of the box. If you follow these steps correctly, the login box should disappear and you can now easily transfer files to and from your server. If you are getting any errors when connecting through WinSCP, this may be because you have provided the wrong FTP details. Double-check that you have copied the details from the FTP Server Login page correctly. You may also reset your panel password by following this guide.
How To Use FileZilla’s Site Manager
FileZilla is an FTP client that allows you to easily access and manage your server files. We recommend using this program to upload or download all files to and from your server. The Site Manager feature securely stores your FTP login credentials and allows you to connect to your server using a master password, rather than your panel password. This is very useful if you are managing multiple servers. --- Setup and Use FileZilla's Site Manager You can set up your Site Manager using the Filezilla Client. 1. Download and install the FileZilla Client for your system. Make sure that you download the FileZilla Client and NOT FileZilla Server. 2. On your server control panel, navigate to Files SFTP Connect. 3. Open FileZilla and navigate to Files Site Manager (Shortcut is Ctrl + S or Command + S) 4. Click on New Site, and name it appropriately. 5. Enter the details from your control panel into FileZilla. Your FTP password is the same as your control panel password. 6. Now click connect, and you will be asked whether or not you would like to remember passwords. We recommend that you opt for “Save passwords protected by a master password” for an extra layer of security. 7. If you have chosen this option then enter your new master password, retyping it to confirm then click OK. Otherwise, you can just select the “Save Passwords” option, however, this will leave server passwords unprotected. If you are getting errors when connecting through FileZilla, this may be because you have provided the wrong FTP details.
