How To Add An Admin To Your Left 4 Dead 2 Server

Left 4 Dead 2 Administrators have access to a range of commands that will help run your server, ranging from healing players and making server-wide announcements to kicking and banning troublesome players. Administrators are only available for servers with SourceMod enabled. A list of admin commands can be found at this wiki here.

#Obtaining your SteamID

In order to add an Administrator you will first need to know their SteamID, this can easily be done using SteamID I/O.

1. Navigate to the SteamID website.

2. Enter your Steam Profile URL or Steam Username then click lookup.

3. Make a note of the steamID.

#Adding an Administrator

Once you have obtained a player's SteamID, you are able to easily add them as a server Administrator by adding it to your server's admins_simple.ini file.

1. Access your control panel and Stop your server.

2. Navigate to the Files tab.

3. Locate and Open the admins_simple.ini file.

4. Enter your SteamID in the following format: "SteamID" "99:z" at the end of the file.

5. Click Save then Start your server.
