How To Use A Custom World On Your Terraria Server
Setting up your own custom world on a Terraria server is a fun way to add your personal touch. Whether it is a map you have made or one you have grabbed from somewhere, getting it onto your server is super easy. Just follow this guide to upload and configure your custom world, and you’ll be playing in no time. --- Uploading a Custom World You can upload a custom world to your server via the server files. 1. Access your Control Panel and Stop the server. 2. Navigate to the Files tab. 3. Upload your custom world's files to the folder. If you would like to upload a custom world directly from a Single-player world, you can locate the world files under the file path . 4. Return to your Control Panel and navigate to the Config tab. 5. Change the World Name to be the name of the world you have uploaded. 6. Click Save and Restart your server. Congratulations, you should now have successfully uploaded and configured your desired custom world!
How To Upload Terraria Worlds From The Steam Workshop
With the introduction of Steam Workshop support for Terraria 1.4, players are now able to browse and download custom worlds from the Steam Workshop! Before we get started, you'll need to make sure you have subscribed to the world you want to download on the Workshop. You can browse the Terraria workshop for maps here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/105600/workshop/ --- Finding Downloaded Workshop Maps Once you have subscribed to a map and allowed it to download, you will need to locate it in your local files in order to be able to upload it to your server. 1. Launch Terraria. 2. On the main menu, click the Workshop option. 3. Select Import Worlds. 4. Select the Import button on the world(s) you want to upload to your server. 5. Click Submit. 6. Once the world has finished importing, you can close Terraria. 7. Navigate to the worlds folder for your Terraria game. It is located at one of the following: (Windows) (Mac) (Linux) 8. Locate the 2 new and files that have been created by the workshop map. They will not be the same as your world name, so you may need to use the Date Modified option to locate the correct ones. --- Uploading the Files to your Server Now you have located the world files; you must upload them to your server so that you can play them! 1. Access your Control Panel and Stop the server. 2. Navigate to the Files tab. 3. Upload your custom world's files to the folder. 4. Return to your Control Panel and navigate to the Config tab. 5. By default, Terraria servers are meant for either PC or mobile editions with no crossplay built-in. Thankfully using TShock, an enhanced Terraria server type, and the plugin called Crossplay, you can easily set up a server for both PC and mobile users. --- Installing the Crossplay Plugin Want to enable cross-platform play on your Terraria server? Installing a crossplay plugin lets players from different platforms connect. In this guide, you’ll learn how to install the plugin so PC and mobile players can join your Terraria world together. 1. Install and Setup TShock onto your Terraria server 2. Download the Crossplay plugin from the official GitHub page. 3. Access your Control Panel and Stop your server. 4. Navigate to the Files tab and Open the ServerPlugins folder. 5. Upload the recently downloaded file to the server’s plugins directory. 6. Restart your Terraria server. You can now connect to your Terraria server with the PC and mobile editions of Terraria.
How To Reset Your Terraria Server World
At one point, you or your players may decide that it is time to start a new Terraria world. This will reset all of your current world progress. You can either change the name of your active world or simply delete the current world's save file. --- Deleting the World File If you don't want to keep a copy of your old world, the easiest way to start a new world is by deleting the old one. 1. Log in to your Control Panel and Stop your server. 2. Navigate to the Files tab and Locate the directory. 3. Open the directory and Delete the file. 4. Start your server. --- Changing the World Name If you wish to keep your existing world so you can return to it at a later date, you can change the name of your active world to generate a new one. 1. Log in to your Control Panel and Stop your server. 2. Navigate to the Config tab. 3. Open the Terraria Server Properties and locate the World setting. 4. Change World to a different world name. 5. Save and Start your server. You’ve successfully reset your Terraria server world and are ready for a fresh start.
How To Install 64-bit tModLoader On Your PC
tModLoader is a 32-bit program that you can download and install from Steam. This limits the RAM that it can access to 4GB, and as a result this greatly limits the number of mods you can run on your client at the same time. In order to increase the RAM (and allow you to use more mods!) you will need to install the 64-bit version of the game. --- Installing 64-bit tModLoader If you haven't already got tModLoader installed on your machine, you will need to do so first. You can view our guide on how to do this here. 1. Go to the GitHub page for the project, and ensure that the version you will download is the same as the version of tModLoader you currently have installed. 2. Click on the tModLoader64bit.zip file to download it to your PC. 3. Once you have downloaded the files, extract them somewhere save such as your desktop or downloads folder. 4. Once extracted, select all the files inside the folder and copy them. 5. Find the tModLoader game in your Steam library, right-click on it, and then select Properties. 6. Select the Installed Files tab on the left, and then click Browse. 7. Paste the files you copied before here (and if you are prompted to overwrite any files, do so). --- Launching 64-bit tModLoader Now you have installed 64-bit tModLoader, you will need to add this new version to your steam library (if you launch tModLoader as normal it will still launch the 32-bit version). 1. Return to your steam library, and click Add a Game... at the bottom left of the client. 2. Select Add a Non-Steam Game, and then Browse.... 3. Locate tModLoader64bit.exe in the tModLoader files you found before, and select that. 4. Click Add Selected Programs. You're all set! A new game called tModLoader64bit should appear in your steam library for you to launch.
How To Install & Setup TShock On Your Terraria Server
TShock is an invaluable tool for running servers. Supporting the latest version of Terraria, TShock offers many server management features such as banning, kicking, permissions and much more that will allow you to manage your server from in-game. On top of all this it also has support for plugins, allowing you to customise your server even further! ::ProseNote{title="Important" description="It is recommended that you create a backup before making any changes to your server." appearance="default"} :: How to Install TShock As TShock is only a server-side modification, you will only need to install it onto your server. 1. Navigate to your Control Panel and Stop the server. 2. Click on your current server type at the top of the control panel. If you wish to create a new instance, you can follow this guide. 3. In the Server Type menu, select TShock and click Next Step. 4. Select the latest version and click Next Step. 5. Click on Save Changes and start your server at least once to generate the new server files. Warning: After you install TShock onto your server, your server console will no longer respond to commands, and all commands must be done in-game. This is a known issue with TShock and may be fixed by them in a future release. --- Setting up TShock After TShock is installed for the first time, you will need to set it up so that it recognises you as the owner of the server. 1. Start your server for the first time and wait for the world to fully generate. 2. Look at your server console and look for the line that reads (where xxxxxxx is a random number). 3. Copy & Paste the command from above into the in-game chat (Press "Enter" on your keyboard to access the chat). 5. If done correctly, the following text should appear in your chat: 6. Next, you will need to create your owner account by entering the command . Do note that your account name does not have to be the same as your username on the server. 7. If done correctly, you should get the message "Account \[account name\] has been added to group owner!". 8. Finally, to login to your server you now need to enter that login information to login using the command . 9. To finish, you should get a message that states "Authenticated as \[account name\] successfully!" And that's it! Your server is now setup for you to use! You should remember your account name and password, as you will need to enter it every time you login to your server.
