If you want to use your Terraria server world in single-player or store a backup locally, you will need to download your world to your computer. --- Download Your Terraria World 1. Access your Control Panel and Stop the server. 2. Create a folder on your computer where you will store your server world. 3. Navigate to the Files tab on your server. 4. Open the folder and select the world file(s) that you would like to download. The name of the file will match the name you gave to the world and will end in . You can ignore any files ending in as these are old backups. 5. Download the world file to your computer. 6. Once you've finished downloading your world, you can Start your server. That's it! You have successfully downloaded your server's world. You can now use this in singleplayer, upload it to another server, or simply keep it on your computer as a backup.
How To Create A New Terraria Character (on PC)
The core basis around Terraria is having characters on your account - all of your progress is stored on your character account. This means you can swap between worlds or servers and keep your inventory between them all! When creating a character it is good to keep in mind the various difficulties: Journey: Characters start with extra equipment. This difficulty character can only join Journey mode worlds or servers. Classic: Classic characters drop money on death. Mediumcore: Mediumcore characters drop items on death. Hardcore: Hardcore characters die for good. There is no limit to the number of characters you can make; however they will always be sorted alphabetically, so be sure to remember that when making a new one. --- How To Create a New Character You can create a new character in the Terraria menu. 1. From Terraria's main menu, select Singleplayer or Multiplayer. 2. In the next menu, select New. 3. Choose a character type. We recommend Classic for most worlds. 4. How To Change The Size Of Your Terraria Server World

How To Change The Difficulty Of Your Terraria Server
Terraria servers have 4 levels of difficulty you can choose from: Journey, Classic, Expert, and Master. Please note that server difficulties differ from character difficulties. Here’s a brief summary of each difficulty level and the differences between them: Journey: Terraria’s easiest/creative difficulty. Characters start with wings and improved tools. Characters can duplicate items, modify personal buffs, and toggle infection spread. Characters can also change global time, weather, enemy spawn rates, and difficulty. Please note that only Journey characters can connect to Journey worlds. Classic: Terraria’s base difficulty, used as the benchmark for higher difficulties. Expert:Enemies are more aggressive, have twice as much health, deal twice as much damage, and drop significantly more loot. Players drop 75% of their coins upon death, regenerate health 50% more slowly, defense blocks up to 75% damage received, and players have one additional accessory slot. Expert difficulty also features various expert-exclusive items with the Rainbow rarity. Master: Terraria’s hardest difficulty. Enemies have 250% more health and deal 250% more damage. Players drop all coins upon death, defense blocks up to 100% of damage received, and players gain two additional accessory slots. Master difficulty features expert-exclusive items, as well as master-exclusive items with the Fiery Red rarity. --- Changing Difficulty of a New World This section will show you how to change the difficulty of a new world prior to its generation. To change the difficulty of an existing world, follow the instructions in the section below. 1. Access your Control Panel and Stop the server. 2. Navigate to the Config tab. 3. To change the difficulty of a new world before its generation, follow the instructions in the section above. 1. Access your Control Panel and Stop the server. 2. Create a backup of your world. Download the TEdit program files () in the Assets section from: https://github.com/TEdit/Terraria-Map-Editor/releases/ 5. Unzip the TEdit program files. 6. Open the folder named and run . 7. In TEdit, open your world by clicking File Open at the top of the program and navigating to your Terraria world file. Your world file should end in . 8. Click the World Properties section on the right-hand side, if it isn’t selected already. 9. Scroll down to the Game Mode setting and change this to your difficulty of choice. 10. Save your file by clicking File Save. Once World Save Complete appears in the bottom right corner of the program, you can close TEdit. 11. Upload the edited world to your server via your server files. Providing that you made a backup in step 1, it is safe to overwrite the existing world file on your server. The world difficulty of your existing world has now been changed! You can now Start the server and play with your new difficulty.
How To Change Your Terraria Server Password
Terraria servers are public by default. This means that anyone who has the IP is able to join. To add an extra layer of security and prevent griefing on your Terraria server, you can add a password. This will secure your server and make sure no unwanted guests can join. --- Change Your Terraria Server Password You can change your server password within the Terraria Server Properties in the Config tab. 1. Access your control panel and Stop the server. 2. Navigate to the Config tab. 3. Open the Terraria Server Properties and find the Password setting. 4. In the password field, type the password you would like to use, then click Save. Click on Generate to create a secure, randomized password. 5. Restart your server for changes to apply. Once your server has restarted, your password will be active.
How To Change Your Terraria Server Description (MOTD)
Whenever a player joins a server, they are sent a message in chat automatically. This message is commonly referred to as the Message of the Day, or MOTD. Server owners are able to change their MOTD in order to provide a friendly greeting to their players. --- Changing Your Terraria Server Description You can update your server's MOTD in the config tab of your control panel. 1. Access your control panel and Stop the server. 2. Navigate to the Config tab. 3. Open the Terraria Server Properties and locate the MOTD setting. 4. Change the message in the MOTD field to the message you wish to display to your players then click Save. 5. Restart your server for changes to apply. Once your server has restarted, anyone who joins will see your new MOTD in chat.
