The Enshrouded Blackmire Spire is an Ancient Spire in Blackmire, northeast of Revelwood. Reach its west-side entrance, activate the teleport pad, dodge rolling fireballs and lightning traps, then climb branches and purple bounce flowers around the tower. At the summit, interact with the Flame to unlock a Blackmire fast-travel point.

Unlike most Ancient Spires in Enshrouded, the Blackmire Spire is practically being swallowed by a gigantic tree. You'll spend just as much time jumping between branches as you will navigating the traps inside.

The climb can be frustrating if you don't know where to go, especially around the purple bounce flowers. Fortunately, once you understand the route, reaching the top is pretty straightforward.

Here's everything you need to know.

#Where Is the Blackmire Spire in Enshrouded?

The Blackmire Ancient Spire is located in the Blackmire region, northeast of Revelwood. It's a mid-game area designed for players around levels 13-15, although you'll still want decent equipment before heading in.

You can also recognise it by the enormous tree growing through the tower. It's easily one of the most distinctive Ancient Spires in Enshrouded.

One important thing to remember is that the entrance is on the western side of the Spire. Approaching from another direction can leave you wandering around the tree roots looking for a way inside.

You'll also encounter giant bees, flying purple enemies, and other hostile creatures around the tower, so don't assume you're safe just because you've reached your destination.

#How to Reach the Blackmire Ancient Spire

The easiest way to reach the Blackmire Spire is by travelling from the Revelwood Ancient Spire.

If you've already unlocked that fast-travel point, you're in luck. It gives you a great starting position and saves a considerable amount of travelling.

Follow these steps:

  1. Fast-travel to the Revelwood Ancient Spire. Head to the top and move towards its northwestern side.

  2. Find the Shrouded area northwest of the Spire. Open your map and place a waypoint near its northern edge.

  3. Glide towards the Passage to the Blackmire. The passage begins near the northern end of that Shrouded area.

  4. Follow the path through the Blackmire. You'll travel past enormous tree roots, wooden platforms, muddy pools, and enemy camps.

  5. Continue towards the Ancient Spire. Once you spot the huge tree growing around the tower, approach its western side to locate the entrance.

#Watch Out for Blackmire's Enemies

Getting to the Spire is arguably more dangerous than some of the puzzles inside.

The Blackmire contains several enemies and environmental hazards that can catch you off guard:

  • Vukah: Hostile enemies often found in groups around camps. Try pulling them away individually rather than fighting an entire camp.

  • Mud creatures: Large creatures hiding in muddy pools that attack by throwing projectiles. Ranged weapons make these encounters much easier.

  • Purple flying enemies: Floating enemies that can dive towards you. Keep moving and dodge their attacks.

  • Tar and mud pools: These can slow your movement and leave you vulnerable to nearby enemies.

If you're mainly interested in unlocking the Spire, there's no need to fight everything along the way. Sometimes running past an enemy camp is the smarter option.

#What Should You Bring to the Enshrouded Blackmire Spire?

Before attempting the climb, make sure you're properly equipped. The Ancient Spire in Blackmire focuses more on movement and timing than difficult combat, but being prepared makes a huge difference.

Here's what we recommend bringing:

  • Healing potions and food: Useful if you take damage from traps or enemies.

  • A ranged weapon: A bow, wand, or staff helps deal with enemies before they get too close.

  • A Glider: Essential for travelling around Blackmire and especially useful once you've unlocked the Spire.

  • Double Jump skill: Highly recommended for navigating the narrow branches and tricky platforms.

  • Grappling Hook: Helpful for reaching certain platforms and recovering your position during the climb.

  • Pickaxe: Useful for clearing breakable obstacles along the route.

You should also ensure you have enough stamina to handle repeated jumps and climbing.

The Double Jump skill is particularly valuable here. It's not something you'll want to skip if you've already unlocked it.

#How to Climb the Enshrouded Blackmire Spire

Ready to tackle the climb?

The Blackmire Ancient Spire combines indoor traps with outdoor platforming. You'll repeatedly move between the tower's interior and the giant tree wrapped around it.

Follow these steps to reach the summit.

#Step 1: Enter the Spire and Avoid the Fireball Traps

Once you've found the western entrance, head inside and interact with the teleport pad in the centre of the room.

This transports you to the beginning of the climbing challenge.

Head through the door to your right, where you'll encounter your first obstacle: a corridor filled with rolling fireballs.

The fireballs move through the passage in repeating waves.

Rather than sprinting straight ahead, watch their movements and time your jumps.

Wait for a safe opening, jump over the approaching fireballs, and continue towards the end of the corridor.

After making it through, turn left and enter the next area.

#Step 2: Get Past the Lightning Traps

Your next challenge involves electrical traps that fire lightning across the passage.

These can deal considerable damage if you rush through without paying attention.

Fortunately, there's a simple trick.

Position your camera so you can clearly see the lightning travelling across the corridor. Watch the timing of each discharge, then move through during the gaps.

Jumping over the lower electrical attacks can also help.

Once you're safely across, continue through the door and head towards the stairs.

Bonus tip: Check behind the barrels near the staircase. There's a hidden chest worth grabbing before you continue.

#Step 3: Climb the Giant Tree Branches

Now things start getting interesting.

After heading upstairs, take the left-hand doorway and move through the opening in the tower wall.

You'll find yourself outside, surrounded by the enormous branches of the tree growing through the Spire.

This is where the challenge changes from avoiding traps to precision platforming.

Follow the branches upwards, generally moving towards the left as you climb.

There are several narrow platforms, so avoid sprinting blindly between them.

Double Jump makes this section significantly easier, giving you more control when moving between branches.

You might be tempted to use your Glider for every jump, but that's not always a good idea. Short jumps are usually more precise without it, and gliding can cause you to overshoot smaller platforms.

Eventually, you'll find another opening in the tower wall.

Head back inside to continue.

#Step 4: Survive the Second Fireball Room

Unfortunately, the fireballs aren't finished with you yet.

After climbing the stairs inside the tower, you'll encounter another room containing rolling fireball traps.

This time, the traps move around sections of the room, making it harder to simply jump over them.

The easiest approach is to use the walls as cover.

  1. Wait for the first wave of fireballs to pass.
  2. Move towards the central wall and position yourself away from their path.
  3. Watch for the next wave to move past your position.
  4. Follow behind the fireballs and move around the wall.
  5. Run towards the exit when the path is clear.

Once you've made it through, take the doorway on the right to head outside again.

Before leaving, check behind the nearby barrels for another chest.

#Step 5: Use the Purple Bounce Flowers

This is probably the most memorable part of the entire climb.

Outside the tower, you'll encounter large purple flowers that act like trampolines, launching your character high into the air.

You'll need to bounce between them to reach the upper branches.

The trick is controlling your movement while airborne.

Start by jumping onto the first flower. As it launches you upwards, steer your character towards the next flower and land on it to continue ascending.

Avoid activating your Glider during these jumps. It can interfere with your momentum and make landing on the next flower unnecessarily difficult.

If you see an available grapple point, your Grappling Hook can also help you reach the next platform.

Earlier versions of the game had a more frustrating bounce section, which was subsequently reworked. If you're following an older video guide, the exact jump sequence might look slightly different.

After bouncing between the flowers, land on the larger branch above and locate the opening that leads back inside the tower.

You're getting close to the top!

#Step 6: Reach the Final Platforms

Near the upper section of the Spire, you'll encounter several doorways and an optional treasure puzzle.

If you're only interested in unlocking fast travel, you can skip the treasure room.

Continue following the main route through the branches, using the platforms to climb higher around the tower.

Keep an eye out for the next safe landing rather than attempting huge jumps.

Eventually, you'll reach the summit.

Interact with the Flame at the top to activate the Ancient Spire and unlock its fast-travel point.

Congratulations! You've conquered the Blackmire Spire.

#How to Unlock the Hidden Treasure in the Blackmire Spire

Want to grab some extra loot before leaving?

The Blackmire Ancient Spire contains several treasure chests, including optional chests protected by switches and locked doors.

#Finding the Early Treasure Chest

During the earlier section of the climb, you'll encounter a locked doorway leading towards a chest.

Look for a nearby side room containing a switch.

Activate the switch to open the locked passage and access the treasure.

It's a quick detour, so it's worth checking out if you're exploring thoroughly.

#Unlocking the Upper Silver Chest

The upper section of the Spire contains another optional puzzle involving two switches.

To unlock the treasure room:

  1. Enter the side passage near the room containing the locked doors.
  2. Find and defeat the purple flying enemy in the adjoining area.
  3. Activate the first switch.
  4. Return towards the outside branches and climb towards the nearby balcony.
  5. Use the available platforms or grapple point to reach the second switch.
  6. Activate it, then return to the treasure room to collect your reward.

The contents of these chests can vary, so don't expect a guaranteed legendary weapon.

Still, if you're already making the climb, grabbing a little extra loot certainly doesn't hurt.

#What Do You Unlock at the Top of the Blackmire Ancient Spire?

Reaching the top is about more than proving you're good at jumping between tree branches.

The biggest reward is unlocking the Blackmire Ancient Spire as a fast-travel location.

Once activated, you can return to the Spire without making the lengthy journey through Blackmire again.

Interacting with the Flame also reveals Ancient Obelisk locations in the surrounding region. These landmarks can help you discover additional points of interest, including Shroud Roots and Flame Shrines.

There are three major benefits to unlocking the Spire:

  • Faster exploration: Travel directly to Blackmire whenever you need to return.
  • Easier map discovery: Use the revealed landmarks to plan future adventures.
  • An excellent Glider launch point: Reach distant locations by jumping from the tower's elevated position.

That last benefit is especially useful.

The Blackmire is packed with enormous trees, difficult terrain, and winding routes. Gliding from the Spire can save you a surprising amount of travelling.

#How the Blackmire Spire Helps You Rescue the Bard

Another reason to unlock the Spire is its connection to the Follow the Melody quest.

This quest takes you into the Blackmire in search of the Bard, a survivor who unlocks new musical possibilities for your base.

After reaching the summit, you'll have a convenient launching point for travelling towards the Sunken Ancient City.

Here's what to do next:

  1. Glide north from the Ancient Spire. Head towards the Sunken Ancient City, where you'll discover several partially submerged temple structures.
  2. Find the three switches. Explore the temple rooftops, balconies, and surrounding ruins to locate the switches needed to unlock the Bard's resting place.
  3. Enter the unlocked temple. Make your way down through the passage until you reach the Bard's tomb.
  4. Rescue the Bard. Interact with the tomb, then return to your base and summon the Bard using your Summoning Staff.

Once the Bard is available at your base, you'll be able to explore instrument crafting and other music-related content.

If you're progressing through Follow the Melody, unlocking the Blackmire Spire first is a smart move. It makes travelling around the area considerably easier.

#Tips for Mastering the Ancient Blackmire Spire in Enshrouded

If you're struggling to reach the top, a few small adjustments can make the climb much smoother.

  • Don't rush the traps. Fireballs and lightning attacks follow predictable patterns, so take a moment to watch them.
  • Use Double Jump for precision. It makes navigating the exterior branches much more forgiving.
  • Save your Glider for longer distances. Avoid using it during the purple flower sequence unless you specifically need it.
  • Keep your Grappling Hook ready. Some grapple points can make awkward sections much easier.
  • Skip optional treasure if you're struggling. Unlocking fast travel is more valuable than losing progress while chasing a chest.
  • Watch your landing spots. Most failed jumps happen because players aim too far ahead instead of focusing on the next platform.

#Is the Blackmire Spire Easier With Friends?

Exploring Blackmire with friends can make the journey to the Spire more enjoyable, especially when you're dealing with enemy camps along the way.

While everyone still needs to handle their own jumps and movement, having teammates around can make combat and exploration feel much less punishing.

If your group regularly explores Embervale together, reliable Enshrouded server hosting from Shockbyte also means your shared world doesn't have to depend on one player starting a local session.

That way, everyone can jump into the adventure when they're free, whether they're tackling Ancient Spires, building an enormous base, or hunting down the next piece of equipment.
