The level type server configuration option determines the kind of map or world your server creates. You should only change your server's level type if you also plan on generating a fresh world.

Warning

Changes to your level type will only work for newly generated worlds. Do not change your server's level type while using an existing world, this can cause poor terrain generation or even corruption!

#Configuring your Level Type

  1. Access your server's Control Panel and navigate to the Config tab.

  2. Select the server.properties file.

  3. Locate the Level Type field and change to your desired value.

Some different level types options you can choose from include:

  • minecraft:normal - 1.19+ Standard world type

  • minecraft:large_biomes - 1.19+ Standard world with larger biomes

  • minecraft:amplified - Mountains are much higher, ravines are much deeper, and floating islands can spawn high in the sky.

  • minecraft:flat - A superflat world with no features.

Make sure you use a level type that is supported by your version of Minecraft. You can find a full list of available level types on this wiki page.

  1. Save the file, then restart your server

That's it! After restarting your server and generating a new world, your new level type will be used.
