Fabric, like Minecraft Forge, is a server type that allows you to run mods on your Minecraft server. While less popular than Forge, Fabric still allows for a vast range of mods to be installed; this includes those centered around server performance improvement without heavily modifying vanilla features, which is something you can't get from Spigot or Paper as they modify vanilla behaviors to provide greater performance.
# Creating a Fabric Server Instance
The Shockbyte Panel allows server owners to store up to 3 unique server instances by default. We will be using this feature to create a new server instance with Fabric installed.
- Open your server's control panel and Stop your server.
- Click the Instances tab on the left-hand sidebar.
- Click the Create New Instance button.
- Select Fabric as your server type, then click on Continue.
- Choose the version that is needed and then click on continue.
Important
When selecting a version, verifying the required loader version on the mods/modpack page is recommended as certain mods may require a specific build. For example, the modpack **Better MC \[FABRIC\] 1.20.1 v25** requires version 1.20.1 and build **0.15.11.**
- Give your new Server Instance a Name and Short Description, then click Continue.
# Swapping Server Instances
After creating a new Server Instance with your desired server type installed, you will need to change your active instance in order to use it.
- Open your server's control panel.
- Click the Instances tab on the left-hand sidebar.
- Click the Switch button next to your desired Server Instance to begin the transition.
- Confirm the switch over to the new Server Instance, then wait for the process to complete.
That's it! Once your server is accessible again, you will be able to play using your brand new Fabric instance.
