There may be times when disruptive or unwanted players may join your Left 4 Dead 2 server. It is possible to kick or ban players either through your server's console or by using the in-game admin menu.
Important
You are required to be set as an admin on your L4D2 server to kick/ban players.
# With the In-Game Admin Menu
When connected to your server as an Administrator the in-game menu gives you access to a range of commands to help manage your server.
- Open the console by pressing the
`
key. - Enter
sm_admin
. to open the Admin Menu. - Press the
1
key to open Player Commands. - You can now Kick or Ban players, along with various other options. Just select the option and then the player when prompted.
# With the Shockbyte Console
This method can be used if you wish to kick, ban, or temporarily ban a player when you are not connected to the server.
- Access your control panel, and click Console.
- In the console you can enter the following commands:
- Kick -
sm_kick <player username> [reason]
. - Ban -
sm_ban <player username> <duration(set to 9999999 to permanently ban)> [reason]
. - Unban -
sm_unban <steamID/IP>
