There are a range of server types available to Minecraft Bedrock server owners. Each server type has its own set of features, rules, and capabilities.

No matter the way you wish to play the game, choosing the appropriate server type is an essential step in building the perfect Minecraft experience for your players.

Server TypeDescription
Bedrock Dedicated ServerBedrock Dedicated Server (BDS) is the default version of Minecraft Pocket/Bedrock edition and does not have any modifications. This is the raw version provided by Mojang. We advise the use of this server type unless you really need plugins on your server.
PocketMine-MPPocketMine-MP is used for adding plugins to your server, and is the most popular server type for doing this. However, it comes at the cost of not having mob spawning, or complex world generation (Such as the newer biomes, or underground structures such as caves and mineshafts).
TesseractTesseract is a fork of PocketMine-MP and has also been very popular among MCPE server owners.
GenisysGenisys was a popular fork of PocketMine-MP by the iTXTech team. However, Genisys is no longer updated.
GenisysProGenisysPro is a continuation of the Genisys project. Unfortunately, this project is also no longer updated.
BlueLightBlueLight is another fork of PocketMine-MP.
NukkitNukkit is an MCPE server type built-in Java (virtually all other MCPE servers are built in PHP). For this reason, it has been widely adopted by users and hosts who are unable to host in a PHP environment. It is also popular among users who are already familiar with Java - for example, users who had previously run servers for Minecraft Java edition.
ImagicalMineImagicalMine is a fork of PocketMine-MP which has been discontinued and is no longer updated.

That's it! You now know all of the bedrock server types that are available.
