How to Configure Valheim World Presets and Modifiers
As of the Hildir's Request update, Valheim introduced World Modifiers. The modifiers affect your server world's difficulty and provide you with options to completely change your world's gameplay. Thankfully, we've made configuring your World Modifiers easy through our Settings Tab. --- How to Change Your Preset 1. Access your Server Control Panel and Stop the server. 2. Navigate to the Settings Tab. 3. Scroll until you see the Preset option, then select your preferred Preset from the dropdown. 4. Save your changes at the top of your Server Settings. Here is a quick breakdown of what each Preset means: | Preset | Description | | --- | ------- | | Easy | Combat is easier, with enemies raiding bases less frequently. | | Hard | One step up from Normal. Combat becomes more difficult, and raids are more frequent. | | Hardcore | Combat, raids, and other challenges are even more difficult. Players lose items and skills forever upon death. Players don’t have access to a map and can’t use portals. | | Casual | Monsters won’t attack players until provoked. Raids won’t happen, combat is easier, resources are bountiful, and items and skills won’t drop upon death. | | Hammer Mode | Same settings as Casual difficulty, except buildings don’t require resources to make. | | Immersive | Similar to the game's normal difficulty, except players won’t have access to the game’s map and portals.| --- How to Configure Modifiers ::ProseNote{title="Important" description="Manual changes to Modifiers will override your Preset." appearance="default"} :: 1. How To Use Dev/Cheat Commands On Your Valheim Server
Console commands are typically used by admins to affect gameplay, moderate, and view information on servers. With Vanilla Valheim, players can't use cheat commands on Valheim servers; however, with the use of the BepInEx plugin Server devcommands, admins now have access to this feature. Server devcommands allow players to use commands such as fly, god mode, spawning items, and much more on multiplayer Valheim servers. It requires both a client-side install, a server-side install and admin permissions to the player using it. A full list of available commands can be found on this Wiki page. --- Prerequisites Before you install the plugin on your server, you are required to complete the following knowledgebase articles. Enable BepInEx on your Server Grant a player admin permissions Install Bepinex on your Valheim Client --- Installing Server Devcommands on your Valheim Client To use dev/cheat commands on your Valheim server, you will first need to install the Server Devcommands plugin on your client. 1. Ensure that you have installed Bepenix on your Valheim client. 2. Launch r2modman and click Online. 3. Enter in the Search field. 4. Click Server\devcommands then click Download. 5. Click Download with dependencies. 6. Once installed, click Start modded to launch Valheim with Server Devcommands installed. --- Installing Server Devcommands Once the prerequisites are complete, you can upload the plugin to the plugins folder found in your server's files. 1. Manually download Server devcommands from the Thunderstore. 2. Navigate to your Control Panel and Stop your server. 3. Navigate to your server files. 4. Locate and Open the folder. 5. How To Whitelist Your Valheim Server
Valheim is a very cooperative PvE game, where working closely with fellow players is key to exploring the world around you. As a result, you may want to secure your server to only allow people you trust to join it. Thankfully, Valheim comes with 2 built-in methods of preventing random people from joining your server. You can set a password to join your server, and you can set a server whitelist. --- How to Manage your Server Whitelist By default, the whitelist file on Valheim servers is blank, meaning that the whitelist is disabled. By adding anything to the whitelist file (even if it’s not a player ID or player name), it will enable the whitelist on the server. Once the whitelist is enabled, only players on the whitelist file will be able to access the server. 1. Access your server's Control Panel and Stop the server. 2. Navigate to the Files tab. 3. How To Upload A Custom World To Your Valheim Server
Uploading a custom world to your Valheim server can be a great way to migrate your single-player world progress to your server, or to use a specific seed you want. Fortunately, there is a method available that allows Valheim server owners to import external worlds. You can have as many world files uploaded to your server as you want. In fact, you can swap between these worlds by simply changing what world is selected in your valheim.properties file. --- Uploading a Custom World to Your Server 1. If you haven’t already, generate the world you want in single-player. 2. Single-player worlds are located in . How To Reset Your Valheim Server World
Because progress in Valheim is stored in your player information, this means that the server world only stores your builds and other such things. As a result, you may want to change the world; if the map isn’t very good, or you just want a fresh world to farm resources on. Thankfully, resetting your server world is incredibly easy. You can choose to either delete your existing world or simply create a new one, which is useful if you ever want to return to your old world. --- How to Change Your Server World If you just want to change your world, rather than deleting it entirely, this is very simple. 1. Access your Server Control Panel and Stop the server. 2. Navigate to the Config Tab. 3. Change the World option to what you want your new world to be called and click Save. To return to your old world, simply change this option back to what it was previously. --- How to Delete Your Server World Maybe you want to remove your world entirely, either because you will never have a use for it again or because you want a new world with the same name. 1. How To Reset Your Valheim Character
If, for whatever reason, you wish to start fresh on a character, then you may wish to delete it so you can start over with a new character of the same name. ::ProseNote{title="Important" description="Deleting your Valheim Character is permanent and cannot be undone.
