Core Keeper has an optional difficulty setting named Hard Mode that will make the game more challenging. Hard mode can only be turned on when creating a new world; you cannot switch between difficulties in the same world.

Important

You cannot change the difficulty of an existing Core Keeper world. Instead, you will need to create a new world with “Hard Mode” enabled.

# Changing Your Game Mode via Server Settings

You can adjust the difficulty of your server by modifying the configuration file.

  1. Log in to your control panel and Stop your server.
  2. It is recommended to create a backup before proceeding. You can find a guide on doing this here.
  3. Navigate to your Server Files.
  4. Locate and open the corekeeper.properties file.
  5. Change the world_mode= setting to 1, then press Save.
  6. To apply these changes and enable Hard Mode, you’ll need to reset your world.
  7. Start your server.

That is it! Your server will now start up and generate a new world with Hard Mode enabled.
