How to Convert Minecraft Worlds from Bedrock Edition to Java Edition

Je2be is a software that allows Minecraft worlds to be converted to support different platforms. When provided with a directory that contains the level.dat file, you can switch worlds from Java, Bedrock, and Xbox360 versions of Minecraft.

For example, this could be great for those that were playing Bedrock Minecraft but are transitioning to Java Minecraft and would like to continue their previous world from Bedrock. Without a tool such as Je2be it is not possible to move worlds around to other versions of Minecraft.

Accessing World Files

In order to use Je2be, you will need to have the directories that store your level.dat files. The specific directory you need may vary depending on the version of Minecraft from which you intend to convert the world file.

  • Java Minecraft - %appdata%\.minecraft\saves
  • Bedrock Minecraft - %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\games\com.mojang\minecraftWorlds

Once at these file locations, you will need the folders of the save file you wish to convert, we would suggest copying these folders and creating a backup in a safe place on your PC.
