How to Change Your Valheim Server Password

We have a video tutorial on changing your server password:

All servers must have a password. When you order a server from us, a random password is generated, however, you can change this to whatever you want so that only people who know the password will be able to join.

WARNING:

Make sure that the password you choose follows these guidelines:
  • Must be at least 5 characters long
  • Not be the same as the world name
If the password you set is too short or the same as your world name, the server will crash.

Changing Your Server Password

Changing your server password is super easy! Just follow these steps below in order to change your password to whatever you want.

  1. Navigate to your Server Control Panel.
  2. Click on the Files > Config Files tab on the left.
  3. Click on Valheim Server Settings.
  4. Change the Password option to what you would like and press Save at the bottom of the page.
  5. Restart your server for the change to take effect.
