There are many reasons why a server owner might wish to know the seed of their Valheim World, however, the Valheim developers don't make the seed of a world easily accessible through commands.
All Shockbyte Valheim servers log the currently active world's name and seed on every server startup. Alternatively, there are third-party tools available to find the seed of a world that is not currently loaded on your server.
Your Active World Seed
To find the seed of the Valheim world currently used by your Shockbyte server, you will need to start your server via the console.
- Access your control panel and navigate to Console.
- After your server boots up locate the "YOUR SERVER DETAILS" section in the console log.
- The seed of your active world should be displayed here.
If you can't find the "Your Server Details" section in the console, restart your server and monitor the console log closely.
Specific World Seed
If you need to find the seed of a world that is not actively running on your server, you can upload the world file to a third-party tool to find the seed.
- Access your control panel and Stop your server.
- Navigate to Files > FTP File Access.
- Enter your Multicraft Password then click Login.
- Navigate to savedata > worlds_local.
- Left-click on the .fwl file associated with your desired world.
- Navigate to: https://valheim-map.world/getseed.html
- Click Choose file.
- Select your .fwl file then click Open.
- Your world's seed can then be seen at the bottom of the page.
