Tin Ore in Enshrouded comes from the Nomad Highlands, mostly from Shrouded mines and cave passages. Start with the Shroud Root cave north of the Nomad Highlands Ancient Spire, then try the Mining Rift to its west or the small mine west of Umber Hollow. Mine the dark-grey, silver-flecked deposits with any pickaxe.

#Where to Find Tin in Enshrouded

The best Enshrouded tin location for you depends on how much ore you need and how much fighting you’re prepared to do:

  • For your first haul: Try the Shroud Root cave north of the Nomad Highlands Ancient Spire.
  • For a longer mining session: Head to the Mining Rift west of that cave, where more deposits come with more enemies.
  • For a quieter alternative: Search for the small underground mine west of Umber Hollow.

Around a dozen spots on the map hold tin veins: nine in the Nomad Highlands and three in the neighbouring Low Meadows, including a Shrouded mine at Smothering Pit that a Fell Thunderbrute guards. The Highlands spots are the ones worth planning a trip around.

Unlocking the Nomad Highlands Ancient Spire gives you a fast-travel point for the northern locations. Start there rather than making the entire journey from your base whenever you need another batch.

#Shroud Root Cave: A Good First Stop

Head north from the Nomad Highlands Ancient Spire and look for the cave containing a Shroud Root. The tin deposit is on the wall behind the root, so clear nearby enemies and deal with the root before settling in to mine. Expect Fell swordsmen, wraiths and critters guarding the cave, so go in ready for a fight.

This is a sensible starting point when you’ve recently reached the Highlands. You’re tackling a more contained location than the Mining Rift, and there’s a clear landmark to guide you to the ore.

The trade-off is the deposit’s size. Treat this as a first supply run rather than somewhere you’ll fill every spare inventory slot. Once you’ve worked through the visible vein, check what you’ve collected before deciding whether to continue west.

#Mining Rift: More Ore, More Fighting

The Mining Rift lies west of the northern Shroud Root cave. It contains plenty of Tin Ore alongside copper and other mineable resources, making it a useful stop when you’re gathering materials for several crafting projects.

It also demands more attention. Much of the pit is Shrouded, and flying Fell Critters can interrupt you while you’re trying to work through a vein. Clear the immediate area before switching to your pickaxe; repeatedly swapping between mining and fighting wastes the time you have underground.

Some deposits sit around the rim of the rift above the Shroud line, so you can mine a fair amount before descending at all. Keep an eye on your Shroud timer once you do go down. A large deposit is tempting, but it isn’t worth ignoring your exit route.

Choose Mining Rift when you’re equipped for a longer trip. For a small amount of tin, the northern cave may involve less trouble.

#West of Umber Hollow: A Quieter Mining Option

Another useful Enshrouded tin mine sits west of Umber Hollow, beneath a narrow opening in the ground. Look for a small crack rather than a large, obvious mine entrance.

The deposit below is bigger than the entrance suggests. The mine is mostly free of enemies, which makes it the calmer choice, though you should still watch your surroundings.

The mine still sits within the Shroud. Grappling anchors provide a way back towards the surface, so check where they lead before committing to a long mining session.

This spot isn’t immediately beside an Ancient Spire. Mark the entrance when you find it, and consider placing a Flame Altar on suitable safe ground nearby for future trips. Leave the mining area itself outside your outpost’s build area, for reasons covered in the respawn section below.

#Another Option: Blazing Rock Trade Outpost

Already exploring around Blazing Rock Trade Outpost? Tin also turns up along the cliff faces in the Shroud behind the outpost. Head towards those cliffs, glide down carefully, and inspect the rock faces around the edge of the Shrouded area.

This is worth checking while you’re nearby, rather than making a separate journey before trying the three main locations.

#What Does Tin Ore Look Like?

Tin deposits resemble clusters of dark-grey stones with shiny silver sections. They can protrude from cave walls, cliff faces and the ground, sometimes looking more like loose rubble than a neat metal vein.

Look closely before dismissing a patch as ordinary rock. The metallic sections are easier to distinguish up close, especially in dark caves.

Once you start mining, check the material appearing in your inventory. If you’re only collecting stone, adjust where you’re hitting rather than tunnelling straight ahead. Aim at the visible ore and follow the deposit as you expose more of it.

You don’t need a special tin-mining tool. The Scrappy Pickaxe can harvest it, although a copper or bronze pickaxe makes the job quicker. Since the Enshrouded 1.0 release date, Tin Ore stacks to 250 per slot, so one stack covers most trips.

#What You Need Before Your First Tin Run

Most of the locations above involve the Shroud, so preparation matters more than finding the entrance.

Bring the following:

  • A repaired pickaxe: Use your best available option. A spare is useful when you’re planning to stay out for a while.
  • Your glider and grappling hook: These help with the Highlands’ steep approaches and the escape route at the western Umber Hollow mine.
  • Food, healing supplies and Shroud Survival Flasks: Prepare for both mining and combat rather than packing only a pickaxe.
  • Free inventory space: Store anything you don’t need before leaving, especially when you’re heading for Mining Rift.

For the usual Shrouded routes into the Nomad Highlands, plan around Flame level 4. That upgrade lets you pass the Deadly Shroud blocking those approaches, and the level 4-to-5 upgrade is the first one that costs tin.

A Shroud Survival Flask buys you time inside the Shroud. It does nothing against Deadly Shroud your Flame level can’t pass yet, so don’t pack flasks in place of the upgrade.

#A Practical Enshrouded Tin Ore Farming Route

You don’t need to visit every deposit in one trip. Start with the two northern locations and decide whether to continue based on your supplies.

  1. Fast-travel to the Nomad Highlands Ancient Spire. Check your equipment, food and inventory before leaving.
  2. Visit the Shroud Root cave to the north. Clear the immediate threats, then mine the deposit behind the root.
  3. Check your haul and pickaxe durability. Return home when you have enough for the job you came to do.
  4. Continue west to Mining Rift for more ore. Work the rim deposits first, clear enemies around each vein, and keep track of your route out.
  5. Return to base before your supplies run low. Save the mine west of Umber Hollow for a separate trip when the northern stops aren’t convenient.

When you’re gathering tin for bronze, check your copper supply too. Tin alone won’t finish that crafting chain. Copper veins sit in the Mining Rift and in several of the same Highlands cave passages, so you can often collect both during one outing.

#Does Tin Ore Respawn in Enshrouded?

Yes. Everything outside a Flame Altar’s build area, ore veins included, returns to its original state when that part of the world reloads. Keen Games designed it that way: a full server restart refills the veins, and so does leaving an area unvisited for around two hours.

Logging out of a multiplayer session is not the same as restarting the server. If a friend is still online nearby, the area stays loaded and the vein stays empty.

Terrain inside a Flame Altar’s radius is saved permanently, so a mine that sits within your outpost’s build area will not refill. Keep any travel altar a short distance from the vein you plan to revisit.

For an ordinary gathering session, rotating between deposits is the simpler approach. You can mine another location instead of waiting beside an empty wall or interrupting everyone else with a server restart.

#How to Get Tin Bars in Enshrouded

Tin Ore and Tin Bars are different materials. Mining gives you ore but most crafting recipes ask for processed bars instead.

To make Tin Bars, use a Smelter and select the Tin Bars recipe. One batch takes 15 Tin Ore, 5 Charcoal and 2 Wood Acid and produces 3 Tin Bars in four minutes. Later in the game, the Blast Furnace turns 20 Tin Ore, 6 Coal and 4 Wood Acid into 6 Tin Bars in three and a half minutes.

A recipe that produces three bars does not cost its full ingredient list per bar, so plan around five ore per bar at the Smelter. Recipe numbers have shifted across the game’s updates, so check the station’s own display before you start gathering.

Once you have Tin Bars, combine 3 Tin Bars with 7 Copper Bars and 10 Charcoal at the Smelter for 10 Bronze Bars. That’s why a tin shortage often turns into a bronze shortage too.

#What Is Tin Used for in Enshrouded?

Tin has two especially useful roles: strengthening your Flame and supplying the bronze crafting chain.

For the Flame level 4-to-5 upgrade, you need 20 raw Tin Ore. In 1.0 the full list is 20 Spark, 20 Mint Mushroom Meat, 20 Fossilized Bone, 20 Ammonia Gland, 20 Tin Ore, 20 Rooibos and a Fell Monstrosity Head, plus six survivors living in sheltered beds at your base. Spark and the survivor count are new since the full release, so an older checklist will leave you short. Set the ore aside before smelting your whole haul, because Tin Bars won’t satisfy the altar.

For crafting, the main progression is:

Tin Ore to Tin Bars to Bronze Bars.

Bronze then feeds into equipment and tool recipes, including the bronze pickaxe and axe. Before heading out, check the item you’re making and work backwards through the materials you already have. You might need another stack of tin, or only the copper sitting in a different storage chest.

Tin Ore also appears in cosmetic crafting. Each batch of the Mossy Stone, Pastel Yearwake and Silver Chalice color palettes at the Coloring Station takes two raw ore.

#Farming Tin With Friends

Mining Rift is a useful place to divide the work. One player can handle nearby enemies while another mines, with everyone keeping track of their own Shroud timer. Agree on an exit before spreading out through the area.

When your group plays at different times, dedicated Enshrouded server hosting gives you a shared world without relying on one friend’s PC to host every session. Someone can gather ore while another works on the base or prepares crafting supplies, and a scheduled restart refills the veins for whoever logs in next.

Mark your preferred mine and keep raw ore separate from finished bars. Start with the northern cave, move to Mining Rift when you need more, and save that Flame-upgrade ore before switching on the Smelter.
