Resource packs allow you to customize textures, font styles, sounds, models, interface and other things for Minecraft. These resources are also compatible with servers so that everyone who joins your server will be able to use your custom resource pack.
You can create your very own resource pack or use the readily available ones shared on Minecraft sites like Planet Minecraft and the Minecraft Forum.
You can only follow the steps for this article if you have access to a PC and the Windows Edition (Bedrock) version of Minecraft.
Download your desired ResourcePack.mcpack
file, then double click it.
Press WIN + R
to open the Windows Run program
While in-game, navigate to the singleplayer menu, and click Create New.
Click Create New World and give your world any name you'd like.
Click the Resource Packs tab, then open the "Owned" drop-down menu.
Click Activate next to your desired resource pack, then Create the world.
Once the world is loaded, Save & Quit the world.
Paste the string %appdata%/../Local/Packages/Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe/LocalState/games/com.mojang/minecraftWorlds
into the Run window and then click OK.
Entering this directory path using Windows Run should automatically open your Minecraft Bedrock worlds directory. If for whatever reason this doesn't work in your case, feel free to browse YouTube or Google for steps on locating your Bedrock worlds directory.
Locate the new world folder you just generated.
The folders in the directory you opened are named with random characters, which is normal. To find a specific world, you can either sort the folders by "Date Modified" to have the most recently played world appear at the top, or open each folder and read the levelname.txt
file inside to see the world's exact name. Sorting by date is quicker, but reading the text files provides precise world names.
Access your server's control panel and navigate to the Files tab.
Locate and open the worlds
folder.
Open your current world folder, by default it will usually be called "Bedrock level".
Upload the resource_packs
folder, world_resource_packs
file, and world_resource_pack_history
file to the opened world folder on your server.
When the "Confirm Override" window pops up, click Delete or Override for each file and folder. This will override your server's existing resource pack folder and files with the ones you just generated and located.
In your server files, return to the root directory, then open the resource_packs folder.
Back in your local world files, go back to the com.mojang
directory, then open the resource_packs
folder.
Upload your desired resource pack from your local files into the opened server resource_packs
folder.
After the resource pack finishes uploading, Start your server.
After your server boots up, the next time a player joins without the specified resource pack, they will receive a prompt asking if they would like to download the pack and join automatically. If you already have the pack installed, you will simply swap to that pack and join the server without a prompt.
