The Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator developer console is a useful tool for truck simulator owners. By default, the developer console is not enabled within the game's configuration. That being said, it is required to enable the developer console for some processes, such as installing mods on servers.


# How to Enable the Developer Console

The developer console can be enabled in Euro Truck Simulator 2 or American Truck Simulator by editing the game's config file on your computer. For this example, we will be enabling the developer console for Euro Truck Simulator 2.

  1. While your game is not running, locate and open your Euro Truck Simulator 2 data folder.
Note

This folder can usually be found in your computer's documents folder on Windows (`C:\Users\\Documents`).

  1. Open the config.cfg file with your preferred text editor.

  1. Change the g_developer "0" field to g_developer "1".

  1. Change the g_console "0" field to g_console "1".

  1. Save the file, then start your game.

After completing these steps, you will be able to press the ` (backtick) key while driving to open the developer console.
