Some server owners may wish to install new add-ons to their existing world on their Bedrock server. Although this is possible, it requires a few more steps than creating a new world with add-ons.

# Downloading your Bedrock World

You can download your server's world from the sFTP access, located on your server's control panel.

  1. Access your control panel and Shut Down your server.

  1. Open the \worlds folder.

  1. Click the three dots on your world folder, then click Download Folder

Click the three dots on your world folder, then click the download folder button to begin downloading it

# Installing Addons on your World

To install addons onto the Bedrock world you just downloaded from your server, you will first need to install it onto your singleplayer client. Then you can edit and install addons onto the world file in-game.

After installing addons in singleplayer, you can then upload the world back to your server to use it again.

  1. Press WIN + R to open the Windows Run program
  2. Paste the string into the Run window and then click OK.
%appdata%/../Local/Packages/Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe/LocalState/games/com.mojang/minecraftWorlds

Entering this directory path using Windows Run should automatically open your Minecraft Bedrock worlds directory. If for whatever reason this doesn't work in your case, feel free to browse YouTube or Google for steps on locating your Bedrock worlds directory.

  1. Open the unzipped folder, then move the world folder to your local worlds directory.

Make sure the world folder you move is not a layered folder. For example, make sure you are just uploading a folder named WorldNameHere/... not WorldNameHere/WorldNameHere/....

Locate the unzipped world folder, make sure it isn't embedded, then move it to the bedrock local worlds directory

  1. Launch Minecraft Windows Edition, navigate to your singleplayer worlds, then click the edit button next to your newly added world.

Click the edit button next to the newly uploaded world in your singleplayer list

  1. Click the Behavior Packs or Resource Packs button, depending on what you'd like to add to the world.

Select either the behaviour packs or resource packs button to install one of the two (or both) onto your existing world

  1. Find the addon you'd like to install, then click the Activate button under it.

# Uploading the Modified World

After you've finished installing your desired addons on the world in singleplayer, you will need to upload it back onto your server.

Make sure your server is still offline while doing these steps!

  1. Access your server's control panel and navigate to the Files tab.
  2. Locate and open the worlds folder.
  3. Rename the unmodified world folder on your server.

Select the three dots next to the unmodified world folder then click rename folder then change the name to something else, making room for the modified world

  1. Upload the modified version of your server's world folder.

Upload the modified world folder you installed addons to in singleplayer earlier

  1. Start your server.

After the modified world folder finishes uploading, then go ahead and start your server

Once your server finishes starting, your modified bedrock world with addons should be fully loaded and ready to play!
