From adding new blocks to changing the core mechanics, mods are a wonderful way to improve your experience while playing 7 Days to Die. Mods are supported natively and as such, installation is very simple on both your client and your server. This guide will walk you through installing mods onto both.

# Downloading your Mods

You can download a mod from a website like 7daystodiemods.com.

  1. Locate and download the mod that you would like to install. We recommend using 7daystodiemods.com to do this. Ensure that you are downloading a mod for the correct version of the game!

  1. Once downloaded, unzip the file to retrieve the mod folder containing the ModInfo.XML file.

# Installing Mods Locally

Before you can connect to your modded server, you will need to install the mods locally.

  1. Close 7 Days to Die if it is running.
  2. Locate your 7 Days to Die game files. You can do this by right-clicking the game in your Steam Library and pressing Manage > Browse local files.

  1. Create a folder called /Mods/ if it does not exist, and enter that directory.
  2. Copy your previously-extracted mod folder into this Mods folder. Your ModInfo.XML file should be located at 7 Days To Die/Mods/[ModName]/ModInfo.XML.

Now that you're done, 7 Days to Die will load any mods you installed!

# Installing Mods Onto Your Server

To get started installing mods on your server, follow the steps below:

  1. Stop your server.
  2. Navigate to your server Files.
  3. Create a folder called Mods if it does not exist, and enter that directory.
  4. Upload your previously extracted mod folder into this Mods folder. Your ModInfo.XML file should be located at Mods/[ModName]/ModInfo.XML.

Now you’re done! Start up your server, and confirm that all the mods were successfully loaded.
