Your Minecraft server may encounter issues that lead to loss of server data or player progress which can be devastating to your server and players. This is when server backups become handy, if you aren't familiar with them already, feel free to check out our resources on the topic:
In the event that your server files get corrupted or lost, you can restore your most recent server backups, allowing you and your players to resume at a more recent state instead of starting all over again.
Important
Before restoring a backup, make sure to generate another backup first of your corrupted files. Although some of the files may be corrupted or unusable, some may not be and can be saved.
# Restoring a Generated Backup
If you generated a backup using the Shockbyte Panel, you can easily restore the backup automatically.
- Open your server's control panel
- On the left-hand sidebar, click the Backups tab
- Click the three dots next to the Download button next to your most recent backup
When selecting a backup to use as a restoration point, make sure you select the most recent backup generated before the data loss you experienced.
- Click the restore button and accept the confirmation
After a few moments, your backup will be restored and you will be able to use your server again.
