How to Configure your V Rising Server

Configuration can be a great way to personalise, improve, or bring variety to your V Rising server. This article will explain where to find each configuration file, what they achieve, and how to use them.

Important: When configuring your server, always ensure you Stop your server before making any changes.

V Rising Properties

The vrising.properties file allows for a very basic level of configuration. Mainly allowing for server management, rather than gameplay changes.

Location

  • Via control panel: Files > Config Files > V Rising Server Settings
  • Via FTP: Base Directory/vrising.properties

Automatic Steam Updates (Recommended) steam_updates Enabled

Controls if the server will update alongside V Rising Steam updates.

Accepted values are Enabled or Disabled.

Server Name server_name A Shockbyte V Rising Server

Assigns a name to your server, which allows it to be found with the in-game server list.

Any value is accepted.

Game Settings Preset game_settings_preset StandardPvP

Allows you to assign a configuration preset to your server.

Server Description server_description Your server description here

Assigns a description to your V rising server.

Any value is accepted.

Server Password server_password  

Assigns a password to your server.

Any value is accepted.

Max Players max_players Dependant on purchased plan

Controls the maximum amount of players that can connect to your server at one time.

Accepted values are equal to or less than the purchased hosting plan amount.

Max admins max_admins 4

Controls the maximum amount of admins that you can have on your server.

Any integer value is accepted.

Admins admins_id_list  

Assigns admins to your server using their Steam64ID.

RCON enable_rcon Enabled

Controls if you are using RCON with your server.

RCON Password rcon_password password

Assigns a password to connect to RCON.

Autosave Interval (Seconds) save_interval 600

Sets the time interval for your server to automatically save.

Any integer value is accepted.

Reset Days Interval reset_days_interval 0

Sets the duration of scheduled wipes.

Any integer value is accepted.

Reset Day of the Week day_of_reset Any

Sets the day that scheduled reset takes place.

All days are an accepted value.

Server is Listed server_is_listed Enabled

Controls if the server is displaying on the public server list.

VAC Protection Server_is_secure Enabled

Controls if VAC protection is enabled or disabled on the server. Allowing players that have been VAC banned to connect to your server.

Accepted values are Enabled or Disabled.

Steam Beta steam_beta  

Controls if your server will boot any Steam betas.

Wine Debug wine_debug Disabled

Controls if excess error and warning messages and displayed on your console.

Accepted values are Enabled or Disabled.


Making Game Setting Changes

Game settings cover an array of different gameplay features including PvP, Catle Multiplier, etc. In order to make changes to any V Rising server's gameplay settings you will first need to select the Custom game settings preset in your server's control panel.

  1. Access your control panel and Stop your server.
  2. Navigate to Files > Config Files.
  3. Click V Rising Server Settings.
  4. Select Custom using the Game Settings Preset dropdown.
  5. Save your changes.

  • Via control panel: Files > Config Files > V Rising Game Settings
  • Via FTP: /save-data/settings/GameserverSettings.json
