How to Change the Difficulty of your Necesse Server

When setting up a Necesse server for the first time, server owners may want to change the difficulty of their server for a more laid-back or challenging experience.

Necesse offers 5 different difficulties that range from Casual to Brutal. Each difficulty level will change the amount of damage a player receives in addition to the amount of knockback that is given after an attack.

Difficulty can be changed at any time during a playthrough through the world settings or by executing the difficulty chat command.

Difficulty Player Damage Taken Knockback Given
CASUAL 0.5x 1x
EASY 0.7x 1x
NORMAL 1x 1x
HARD 1.3x 0.75x
BRUTAL 2x 0.4x

Changing Server Difficulty via Command

Alternatively, you can change your server's difficulty by executing the /difficulty command in-game.

  1. Connect to your Necesse server.
  2. Ensure that you have admin permissions to execute commands.
  3. Enter the /difficulty <Difficulty> command in the chat with your desired difficulty level.
