Setting your Barotrauma server to private allows you to restrict access to select players and prevent uninvited players from joining. Currently, the only way to make your Barotrauma server private is by setting a password for your server or removing it from the server list.
Removing your server from the server browser makes it unsearchable for other players, although those with the server IP and port can still join using the direct connect.
Setting a Password
You can set a password for your Barotrauma server in the Barotrauma Server Settings section of your control panel.
- Access your control panel and Stop your server.
- Navigate to Files > Config Files.
- Click Barotrauma Server Settings.
- Enter your chosen password in the Server Password field.
- Save and Start your server.
You will now find when connecting to your server, you will be prompted with a pop-up asking for a server password.
Hiding your Server from the Server Browser
You can remove your server from the in-game server list in the Barotrauma Server Settings section of your server's control panel.
- Access your control panel and Stop your server.
- Navigate to Files > Config Files.
- Click Barotrauma Server Settings.
- Set the Display on Server List dropdown to Disabled.
- Save and Start your server.
You will now find when looking for your server, you will not be able to search for it but if you select Direct Join, you can connect via the IP & Port.
