Vintage Story comes with five preset playstyles for server owners to choose from. These playstyles each offer a unique way to play Vintage Story by making changes to a range of settings including death punishment, food spoilage rate, temporal storm settings and a lot more.
Important: After changing playstyles it is recommended that you reset your server's world.
Available Playstyles
Below is a list of available world playstyles and a short description of the kind of experience each of them gives.
| Playstyle | Description |
|---|---|
| Survive and Build | The default survival experience of Vintage Story. Balanced exploration, building and survival. |
| Exploration | For players that do not enjoy combat or a significant focus on survival. Greater focus on exploration and building, and less focus on survival. |
| Wilderness Survival | For players that enjoy challenging combat and survival mechanics. Greater focus on survival, and less focus on exploration and building. Respawn randomly within 5000 blocks upon death. |
| Homosapiens | Removes all lore content and evidence of current or past civilizations. You are the first and only human on the planet. Stronger focus on realistic survival. |
| Creative Building | Flat and empty terrain with unlimited blocks, the ability to fly and world editing tools. If chosen, you must change the world type to super flat and generate a new world to apply these changes. |
Changing your Server's Playstyle
Your server's playstyle can be selected in the Vintage Story Server Settings section of your server's control panel.
- Access your control panel and Stop your server.
- Navigate to Files > Config Files.
- Click Vintage Story Server Settings.
- Select a playstyle using the World Play Style dropdown.
- Save and Start your server.
