How to Configure your HumanitZ Server

A key feature of HumanitZ dedicated servers is the level of configuration offered for many of the game features. Allowing server owners to completely customise their experience.

Important: Before making any changes to your server config, ensure that you Stop your server & Start it once the change has been made.

Accessing your HumanitZ Server Settings

Your primary server settings can easily be accessed using the HumanitZ Server Settings file located on the config page in your server's control panel.

  1. Access your control panel and Stop your server.
  2. Navigate to Files > Config Files.
    Navigate to your server config files
  3. Click HumanitZ Server Settings.

Configuring your Server Settings

Once you have access to your server settings, you can make any required changes. The table below lists all of the available server settings.

Option Description
Automatic Steam Updates Enable or disable automatic steam updates and file validation on server startup.
Steam Beta (Optional) Enter the beta branch name of your desired HumanitZ server Steam beta.
Server Name Sets the name on the server browser list.
Password Sets a password to connect to your server.
Save Name The name of the save file you would like your server to use.
Admin Password The password used by admins to grant themselves admin permissions in-game.
Maximum Players Sets the maximum amount of players on your server.
Permanent Death

Sets what level of permanent death difficulty your server should use.

  • 0 - Off (No perma-death)
  • 1 - Individual
  • 2 - All

It's recommended public servers stay at 0.

Zombie Health

The difficulty level of zombie health.

  • 0 - Very Easy
  • 1 - Easy
  • 2 - Default
  • 3 - Hard
  • 4 - Very Hard
  • 5 - Nightmare
Zombie Speed

The difficulty level of zombie speed.

  • 0 - Very Easy
  • 1 - Easy
  • 2 - Default
  • 3 - Hard
  • 4 - Very Hard
  • 5 - Nightmare
Zombie Damage

The difficulty of zombie damage.

  • 0 - Very Easy
  • 1 - Easy
  • 2 - Default
  • 3 - Hard
  • 4 - Very Hard
  • 5 - Nightmare
Total Number of Zombies Multiplier

Raise or lower the global zombie limit (Warning, increasing this can impact performance).

For example, setting this to 1.2 will result in 20% more zombies than default.

Total Number of Zombie Dogs

Raise or lower the global zombie dog limit (Warning, increasing this can impact performance).

For example, setting this to 0.9 will result in 10% less zombie dogs than default.
Zombie Respawn Timer How long (in minutes) it should take for a zombie to respawn. (Default is 60)
Human Respawn Timer How long (in minutes) it should take for a human to respawn after dying. (Default is 60)
Animal Respawn Timer How long (in minutes) it should take for a animal to respawn after dying. (Default is 60)
Human Difficulty

What difficulty level humans should be.

  • 0 - Very Easy
  • 1 - Easy
  • 2 - Default
  • 3 - Hard
  • 4 - Very Hard
  • 5 - Nightmare
Human Amount Multiplier

Raise or lower the global human npc limit (Warning, increasing this can impact performance).

For example, setting this to 1.1 will result in 10% more humans than default.

Multiplayer Sleep
  • 0 - Passing time by sleeping is disabled (Default)
  • 1 - Time passes if everyone performs the sleep emote at the same time
Weapon Break
  • 0 - Only improvised weapons break at 0% durability (Default)
  • 1 - Weapons break when reaching 0% durability, except a crowbar
Air Drop

Enable or disable air drop events.

  • 0 - Disabled
  • 1 - Enabled (Default)
Air Drop Interval

The amount of days to wait between air drop events (Default is 3).

Eagle Eye

Enable or disable the eagle eye skill.

  • 0 - Disabled
  • 1 - Enabled (Default)
Clear Infection
  • 0 - Respawning does not rid you of the infection
  • 1 - You lose the infection upon respawning
Loot Respawn
  • 0 - Never respawn
  • 1 - Loot does respawn
Loot Respawn Timer The amount of time (In seconds) that it should take for loot to respawn (Default is 60).
Loot Rarity

The scale of loot rarity.

  • 0 - Scarce
  • 1 - Low
  • 2 - Default
  • 3 - Plentiful
  • 4 - Abundant
Vital Drain

How fast your vitals drain.

  • 0 - Slow
  • 1 - Normal
  • 2 - Fast
Only Allowed Players

Only players with permission can join the server.

Currently, the game option doesn't seem to actually make a difference, and the feature may be WIP still.

PvP

Enable or disable the ability for players to deal damage to each other.

  • 0 - Disabled (Default)
  • 1 - Enabled
On Death

What should happen to a player's inventory when they die.

  • 0 - Only lose backpack and the weapon in hand
  • 1 - All previous, along with pockets
  • 2 - All previous, along with all equipment (Default)
Dogs

Enable or disable finding/locating dog companions players can recruit.

  • 0 - Disabled (Default)
  • 1 - Enabled
Number of Dogs

The amount of companion dogs that could spawn randomly (Warning, increasing this excessively can impact performance).

Recruit Dog

Enable or disable the ability for players to recruit dog companions.

  • 0 - Disabled
  • 1 - Enabled (Default)
