How to Install Workshop Mods on Your DayZ Server

DayZ supports a large number of mods from the vanilla game. You can easily get these up and running on your server!


Installing Mods on Your DayZ Client

Navigate to the DayZ Steam Workshop.

    1. Find the mods you would like to use and click Subscribe.
    2. Launch DayZ and go to the MODS tab.

      Here you can see that the mods have been installed to your client.

Your mods are now successfully installed on your client, and you can proceed with installing them on your server.


Installing Mods on Your DayZ Experimental Client

If you are using DayZ Experimental on your server, you will need to follow some extra steps.

      1. Navigate to the DayZ Steam Workshop.
      2. Find the mods you would like to use and click Subscribe.
      3. Launch DayZ and go to the MODS tab.
      4. Click the drop-down arrow on one of the mods, then the three dots and Open Folder in Windows Explorer.
      5. Copy and paste these mods to a new folder on your Desktop.

        Important: If you can't see these mods folders, you may need to launch the game once to generate the files.
      6. Close DayZ and launch DayZ Experimental.
      7. Navigate to the MODS tab, click Local mod then navigate to the folder you just created. Select the mods, then click Select Folder.

These mods are now successfully installed on your client, and you can proceed with installing them on your server!


Installing Mods on Your DayZ Server

Note: Please follow the steps above on installing mods on your client before following these steps, as those also prepare the mods for upload to your server!
      1. Log in to your control panel and Stop your server.
      2. Connect to your server via FileZilla.
      3. Within FileZilla, navigate to the mods folder on your desktop and upload these to your server.


        Note: If the mod name has spaces, please remove these or replace them with dashes before uploading.
      4. For each mod, open their folder and navigate to the Keys folder. Upload the file from there to the keys folder on your server.
      5. Once these uploads are complete, return to your server control panel and navigate to Files > Config Files.
      6. Open DayZ Server Settings.
      7. Add your mods to either List of Mods or List of Server Mods. Most mods will specify this on their workshop page. In the screenshot below, @zomberry-admin-tools is a server mod because only Admins require its functionality on their client.
        Note: Mods in a list should be separated with a \;
      8. Click save and Restart your server.

You now have mods up and running on your DayZ server!
