How to Configure your Insurgency Sandstorm Server

All common Insurgency: Sandstorm server configuration options are conveniently located in the Insurgency Sandstorm Server Settings section of your server's control panel. This file allows you to easily update various settings, including server name, MOTD, active map/scenario, mods, admins, and more.

Note: Before making any changes to any server settings, ensure that you Stop your server.

Accessing your Server Settings

Your primary server settings can easily be accessed using the Files > Config Files section of your server's control panel.

  1. Access your control panel and Stop your server.
  2. Navigate to Files > Config Files.
  3. Click Insurgency Sandstorm Server Settings.

Configuring your Server Settings

Once you have access to your server settings, you can make any required changes. The table below lists all of the available server settings.

Option Description
Server Name

Sets the name on the server displayed on the in-game browser.

Message Of The Day

A short message that is shown to players on the loading screen when connecting to your server

Server Password Sets a password to connect to your server.
RCON Password The password used to connect to your server's RCON
Starting Map The map code for the map you'd like the server to start on. This option is usually the map associated with the Scenario field.
Scenario The initial scenario to be played when launching the server.
Scenario Lighting Defines whether scenarios are played in day/night mode.
Scenario Mutators Used to define which game rule mutators are active on the server.
Max Players Set the maximum amount of players. Cannot exceed your plan maximum.
AI Difficulty Sets the difficulty for cooperative play. From 1 (Easiest) to 0.1 (Hardest).
Game Server Login Token Used to define a GSLT.
Game Stats Defines whether players on the server gain experience and have their stats tracked while playing on the server. Requires a Game Stats token to be entered.
Game Stats Token Required to track experience and stats.
Cheats Allow players to use the built-in development console; Enables various in-game admin menu features.
Player Voting Allows players to vote on the next map, kicking, etc.
Mod List Enter Mod.io Resource IDs (separated by commas) to automatically install mods.
Mod.io Token Required to automatically download mods from Mod.io.
Map Cycle Define a set of maps/scenarios for players to vote on when rounds end (separated by commas).
Steam Updates Enable/Disable automatic Steam updates on your server.
Validate Steam Files Enable/Disable steam file validation during server startup.
Admin List The Steam64 IDs of all Admins.
