How to Downgrade your Stardew Valley Installation to Version 1.5

With the release of Stardew Valley 1.6, server owners have the ability to downgrade their server to 1.5. In order to join a server that has been downgraded, you will need to downgrade your local installation of Stardew Valley to 1.5 to join your server.

Important: If you have upgraded your current farm to version 1.6 you will not be able to use this on your version 1.5 server, therefore you will have to generate a new farm.

Downgrading your Stardew Valley Installation

The developers of the game have released a beta branch to set your client version back to 1.5.

  1. Open up Steam, right-click Stardew Valley, and click Properties.
  2. Navigate into the Betas tab.
  3. Under Beta Participation, select the legacy_1.5.6 branch.

You have now reverted your copy of Stardew Valley back to 1.5. When Steam updates the game, the version will revert and you should be able to launch it as normal.

After launching the game, you will be able to join your downgraded Shockbyte server.
