How to Spawn Trains & Railways on your Rust Server

Trains and railways are a great addition to Rust, allowing players to traverse the map quickly and farm lots of loot down in the underground system.

As this is a default feature in Rust, the railway system is created during map generation. However, if the map size is too small, then railways will not generate.

Changing World Size

In order to enable railways on your server, you will need to generate a new world at a proper world size. You can change world size in your Rust Server Settings file.

  1. Access your control panel and Stop your server.
  2. Navigate to Files > Config Files.

  4. Locate the World Size option, this has to be set to a minimum of 4250 for trains and railways to spawn. The larger the value, the bigger the map.

  5. Click Save.
  6. Lastly, you will be required to reset your previous map. You can learn how to do this by following our other Knowledgebase article.
  7. Once done, Start your server.
