How to Change Your Minecraft Client Version on Java Edition

Whether your game has been updated to a version that you don't want to play yet, or you want to check out what Minecraft was like 10 years ago, there are lots of reasons for wanting to change your Minecraft version and this guide will show you how!

Changing your Minecraft Client Version

  1. Open your launcher and navigate to the Installations tab
     
  2. Click New Installation.
     
  3. Name the installation and select the version that you would like to play. Once this is done, click Create.
  4. Select the Version List in the bottom left and choose the version of your choice.
  5. Click Play.
