How to Install Mods To Your Stardew Valley Client (SMAPI)

You can play a modded Stardew Valley client with the use of SMAPI, this is also necessary to join certain modded servers.

Installing SMAPI

SMAPI is a modded client for Stardew Valley allowing you to install mods.

  1. Run Stardew Valley once on your PC so it completes its first-time setup.
  2. Download the latest version of SMAPI.
  3. Extract the .zip file to your desired location.
  4. Double-click the installation file based on your Operating System, and follow the instructions.
  5. Once you have specified a Stardew Valley file location, it will install SMAPI.
  6. Do not close the SMAPI installer, as you will need this to link to a game launcher.

Linking SMAPI with Game Launch Clients

You will be required to link SMAPI with either Steam, Game Pass, or GOG Galaxy to boot it alongside Stardew Valley. We have tutorials on how to do this with each of these clients below.
