How to Install Shaders onto your Minecraft Client using Oculus

Shaders modify the way the game looks without affecting other people, generally by adding more realistic animations and textures to Minecraft. Most shaders accomplish this by sending rays of light through blocks to create realistic effects on the world.

Oculus is a Forge port of the popular Fabric mod, Iris. The goal of Oculus is to provide the optimizations and features of Iris to the Forge modding community.

Note: Shaders are not server-side, and will only affect your client.

Installing Shaders with Oculus

After downloading your preferred shader pack, you must install the Oculus mod. You'll then be able to use your newly downloaded shader pack in Minecraft.

For this example, we will be using the CurseForge app to install the Oculus mod.

If you do not have a shader pack already installed, you can find and download one from this website.

  1. Navigate to the Oculus mod's CurseForge page here.
  2. Click the Install button and Launch your CurseForge app.
  3. Either Create a new profile or Select an existing one to install Oculus onto.
  4. After installation completes, hover over your profile, and click Play.
  5. In-game, navigate to Options > Video Settings > Shader Packs...
  6. Open the Shaders Folder, and move your desired shader pack into it.
  7. Back in Minecraft, enable shaders and select your desired shader pack; Click Apply.
