How to Setup the Retakes Game Mode on your CS:GO Server

The Retakes game mode on CS:GO allows players to practice retake scenarios. Retake scenarios are when the terrorists have planted the bomb and the counter-terrorists need to retake the bombsite and defuse the bomb.

Important: Your CS:GO server must be using the SourceMod + MetaMod server type to use admin permissions. Please follow this guide, for instructions on how to accomplish this.

Installing the Retakes Plugin

To install the retakes plugin on your CS:GO server, you will need to download and upload the contents of the CSGO Retakes Plugin to your server.

  1. Navigate to the CSGO Retakes plugin Jenkins page here.
  2. Download the latest retakes-xxx.zip.
  3. Extract the retakes-xxx.zip file.
  4. Access your server files via FTP, we recommend using Filezilla.
  5. Navigate to the /csgo/ directory.
  6. Upload the contents of the retakes folder.
  7. Access your control panel and Restart your server.

Accessing your Retakes Plugin Settings

Your retakes plugin configuration files can be found within the FTP File Access tab on your control panel.

Descriptions of configuration options are listed in the retakes.cfg file, while you may find more information about the options in the retakes_games.cfg on this website, although you generally won't need to modify the retakes_games.cfg file.

Important: Before making any changes to your server config, ensure that you Stop your server & Start it once the change has been made.
  1. Access your control panel.
  2. Navigate to Files > FTP File Access and login.
  3. Navigate to /csgo/cfg/sourcemod/retakes/.
  4. Click Edit.
