How to Set the Death Penalty on your Necesse Server

Upon dying on Necesse, players will receive a set punishment. The chosen punishment has various options to choose from, such as losing key items, losing all items, losing nothing, or permanent death.

Penalties Config File Value Information
No Penalty NONE Nothing happens on death.
Drop materials DROP_MATS Drop all non equipment, combat, and special items.
Drop main inventory DROP_MAIN_INVENTORY Drop everything except the hotbar and equipped items.
Drop full inventory DROP_FULL_INVENTORY Drop all items in the inventory.
Hardcore HARDCORE Characters die permanently.

Configuring Death Penalty

To configure the death penalty, you must access your World Settings via your server's control panel.

  1. Access your control panel and Stop your server.
  2. Navigate to Files > Config Files.
  3. Open World Settings.
  4. Locate the deathPenalty option, and edit it to your desired value from the table above.
  5. Save and Start your server.
