How to Configure your Necesse Server

There are a range of available configuration options available to Necesse server owners allowing them to give their players a more unique experience.

Configuration flexibility ranges from changing the server MOTD to changing the amount of Demonic Ingots required to craft a pickaxe. All configurable settings can be accessed using your Shockbyte control panel.

Important: Before making any changes to your server config, ensure that you Stop your server & Start it once the change has been made.

Accessing your Necesse Server Settings

The majority of your server's configurable options can be found within the Necesse Server Settings section of your server's control panel.

  1. Access your control panel.
  2. Navigate to Files > Config Files.
  3. Click Necesse Server Settings.

Configuring your Server Settings

Once you have access to your server settings, you can make any required changes. The table below lists all of the available server settings.

Option Description
Steam Updates Enable/disable automatic Steam updates and file validations.
World Name The name of the active world.
Server Password Sets a password to connect to your server.
Max Players The maximum amount of players allowed to be connected at once.
MOTD The message of the day is a message to display to anyone in chat when they connect to the server.
Owner (Character Name) The character name of who should be given Owner permissions on server startup.
Workshop Mods

Workshop Collections The Steam Workshop Collection IDs of the mod collections you'd like to automatically install (separated by commas).
World Auto-Generation Whether or not to automatically generate a new world when a world save with the name from the "World Name" field is not found in the saves folder.
Pause When Empty Whether or not to halt/pause all server activity when no one is online.
Give Clients Power If the server should check client actions, this acts as a sort of anti-cheat. When off it will give a much smoother experience for clients.
Only Use Defined Mods If set to true, this option will uninstall all files in your mods folder and reinstall any mods appearing in the Workshop Mods or Workshop Collections. This ensures your mods are always up-to-date, and only the workshop mods you define will remain installed on startup. Old mods get moved to the backups/mods directory.
Steam Beta Branch If you would like to opt into an optional Steam beta, like the branch v0.22.0 for example, you can define the branch name here. The next time your server starts while Steam updates are enabled, your defined beta branch will install.
Steam Beta Password If the beta branch you defined above requires a password to access, you can define the password here. If the branch does not require a password, leave this field empty, it will cause an error otherwise.
