Custom maps allow Counter Strike: Source server owners to give their players a new and refreshing experience. These custom maps are player-made and can be a nice change from the official map pool helping increase server longevity and support for map creators.
Uploading a Custom Map
All custom maps come with a .bsp file. Before you can play the map on your server you will need to upload this to the correct directory.
- Navigate to your control panel and Stop your server.
- Access your server files via FTP, we suggest using FileZilla.
- Navigate to
/cstrike/maps
. - Upload your chosen map's .bsp file.
Selecting a Custom Map
Once you've uploaded your map file, you will need to change your server's starting map in the config file section of your server's control panel. It is also possible to change maps using either map vote or the changelevel map_name
command.
- Access your control panel.
- Navigate to Files > Config Files.
- Click Counter Strike: Source Server Settings.
- Enter the name of your uploaded map in the Map field.
- Save and Start your server.
