We have a video tutorial on how to add admins to a Valheim server:
In order to manage your server in-game (being able to ban, kick, or unban people), you’ll need to have access to admin rights.
A server admin (administrator) has access to kick and ban players and other admins from the server. However, it is not possible to add new admins unless they have access to the server files.
How to Add a Player as Admin
- Log in to your server's control panel.
- On the left-hand side, click Files > Config Files.
- Click on the Admin List config file.
- Add their SteamID64 to the file, making sure to enter only one ID per line.
- If you don't know how to find a player's SteamID, check out our guide here.
- Press Save at the bottom of the page.
Upon clicking save, the changes will take effect almost immediately, kicking anyone currently on the server who were not whitelisted.
How to Enable Console Commands on Your Client
Once you have added yourself as an admin on your Valheim server, you will have to enable console commands on your client in order to use them. To enable console commands:
- Go into your Steam Library.
- Right-click on Valheim, click Properties.
- Under ‘Launch Options’ on the General tab, type
-console
. Keep in mind that the hyphen must be included, otherwise, the command will not work.
