How to Install Mohist on Your Minecraft Server

Mohist is a Hybrid Server Type that allows you to run Bukkit/Spigot plugins alongside Forge mods on 1.12.2 and 1.16.5. This guide will lead you through setting up Mohist on your server running 1.16.5.

Warning: Due to the unique nature of certain mods that are compiled in modpacks, there may be certain incompatibilities with the methods listed which can cause issues.

These issues should be reported directly to the mod authors or developers involved! Mohist is still in development and is likely to have bugs! If you experience any issues, please don’t hesitate to report any errors and crashes on their issue reporting page!

Additionally, if you navigate to Mohist’s discord server, there may be a list of incompatible mods to watch out for!
  1. Download the latest version of Mohist 1.16.5 from their website.
  2. Rename the JAR file to custom-java11.jar and upload it to the root folder of your FTP. We recommend using FileZilla for this! (Related Article: How to use FileZilla for FTP)

  3. On the control panel, set your ‘Server Type’ to the Custom JAR Java 11 option as seen in the image below.
  4. Start up your server, and the installation process will begin. You should be good to start installing plugins. (Related Article: How to Install Plugins on Your Minecraft Server)
Note: Mohist on 1.16.5 only supports Java 11, however this may cause issues for plugins that use non-english characters inside of the console!
