How to Use Beacon to Configure your ARK Server

ARK: Survival Evolved offers extensive configuration files that have the ability for a server owner to modify specific game functionality such as breeding multipliers, difficulty, harvest rates, creature spawns, and more.

These configuration files have special formatting that can result in them being reset if the formatting is incorrect. Beacon is a third-party app that allows a server owner to modify all of these settings in a centralized place with the correct formatting automatically.

Important: Although this guide instructs you to enter your FTP details, this is not required and your details are not stored by the Beacon team. If you do not wish to do this, please use the Export button instead of the Deploy button when configuring your server.

Installing Beacon

To configure various game settings, you will need to install Beacon and link your FTP details.

  1. Navigate to Beacon download page.
  2. Locate Windows x86 64-bit and click Download.
  3. Install Beacon and open the app.
  4. Select Continue to open the home page.
  5. Click New Project...

  6. Click Import.
  7. Select Server with FTP Access and click Continue.
  8. Set the mode to Insecure FTP and enter your Shockbyte FTP server details and click Next.
  9. Once the import has been completed, select OK.

Configuring Breed Multipliers

Once the Beacon app is installed, you can configure Breed Multipliers by selecting the Breed Multipliers tab and deploying it to your server.

  1. Access your control panel and Stop your server.
  2. Select Breeding Multipliers.
  3. Locate Mating Speed and Mating Interval multipliers and enter your desired values.
  4. Click Deploy.
  5. Select your server in the left column and click Begin.
  6. Start your server.
