A Workshop map is a custom map made by the community uploaded to the Steam Workshop. Using a Workshop map is a great way to bring variety to your Team Fortress 2 server.
You must sync your Steam profile's Web API Key before installing Workshop maps on your TF2 server. If you do not know how to do this, please reference our Knowledgebase article on How to Get a Steam Web API Key for Your CS:GO Server as the steps are the same for TF2.
FINDING A WORKSHOP MAP
In order to use a Workshop map, you will need to know its Workshop ID.
- Browse the Steam Workshop for a map you would like to use.
- Once you have found the map, copy the numbers between
?id=
and&searchtext=
.
In the example above, the Workshop ID would be 123456789.
INSTALLING WORKSHOP MAPS
- Access your control panel and open Files > FTP File access.
- Head over to your active mapcycle file. If you are not using a custom mapcycle, please refer to our article on How to Use a Custom Mapcycle.

workshop_<URL-NUMBER>
to the file, where<URL-NUMBER>
gets replaced with the number found in the URL bar as mentioned above.
