How to Change the Server Tags of Your TF2 Server

Players use tags to search for a Team Fortress 2 Server in the community server list. You may want to add tags to make your server more discoverable and describe your server to prospective players.

Unlike other source games, tags are not required for your server to appear in the community server list. Your server is always discoverable through its name, which you can change at any time.

HOW TO ADD TAGS TO YOUR TF2 SERVER

Adding tags is easy - simply add them to your TF2 server.cfg configuration file.

  1. Navigate to your control panel.
  2. Click on the Files > FTP File Access tab on the left.
  3. Open the TF2 server.cfg configuration file.
  4. Now add a new line sv_tags="[tag1],[tag2],[tag3]" and change the tags as you wish. A list of possible tags can be found here.
  5. Once the tags have been added, press Save and restart your server.
