How to Reset Your Project Zomboid Map

If you own a Project Zomboid server, you may wish to fully reset your map to try a new update, install mods, or even just have a fresh start. Luckily, the process is relatively simple.

How to Reset a Default Project Zomboid Map

  1. Log in to your control panel and Stop your server.
  2. Access your server FTP. We recommend using FileZilla.
  3. Create a new directory called DANGER_DELETE_ALL.
  4. Navigate to /Zomboid/Saves/Multiplayer and drag the world folder into the DANGER_DELETE_ALL directory.
  5. Return to your control panel and Restart your server.

The map has now been reset!

How to Reset a Modded Map to a Default Map

If you have a modded map installed but you’d like to revert back to a default one, the steps will slightly differ.

  1. Log in to your control panel and Stop your server.
  2. Navigate to Files > Config Files.
  3. Open world.ini.
  4. Locate the WorkshopItems= setting and remove the Workshop ID of the map you wish to delete.
  5. Locate the Mods= and Map= settings and remove the map name from the text.
  6. Click Save and Restart your server.

Your server will now generate the default map on your server! If you’d like to install a map mod again in the future, you can do so by following our guide on How to Install Mods to Your Project Zomboid Server.
