How To Upload a Custom Save to Your Starbound Server

Uploading a world to your Starbound server is quick and easy, whether you're continuing a single-player world or trying out a custom map.

Preparing Your Server for a Custom World

  1. Log in to your control panel and Stop your server.

Note: Before proceeding with the next step, it’s recommended to backup your server and download this to your computer.
  2. Access your server's FTP directory
  3. Navigate to /storage/universe/.
  4. Delete all the files in this folder.

Locating Your Universe Folder

You will need to locate your Universe folder when continuing from a Singleplayer save. You can do this through Steam via the following steps:

  1. Access your Steam Library.
  2. Navigate to Starbound, right-click the game and select Properties…
  3. Navigate to LOCAL FILES and click Browse…
  4. Navigate to /storage/universe/.

Uploading Your Universe to The Server

Once you’ve located your Universe folder, you’re ready to upload this to the server. If you’re continuing from a Singleplayer world, ensure your game is closed before proceeding.

  1. Access your server's FTP directory.
  2. Navigate to /storage/universe/ inside your server.
  3. Move all Universe files from your computer to the /storage/universe/ folder on your server.
  4. Start your server.

You can now join your server and play with your custom world!
